Travel Events: FTU Advanced Dallas, Chicago Seminars, and an OC Meetup

Good morning everyone, just a quick update on my travel plans over the next few months.  Even though the FTU Advanced Dallas just ended last weekend, I will return to Dallas for the next FTU Advanced Dallas event on September 25-27.  Tickets are $249 and the Hyatt Regency has a $99/night group rate.  The hotel is within walking distance of DFW Airport.  If you are skeptical of attending by yourself, read this post: Why you Should go to Travel Conferences by Yourself #Rant.

Unfortunately, I am not going to be at the FTU Advanced Washington D.C. event on August 21-23.  Tickets are $249 and the Hyatt Regency Crystal City has a $99/night group rate.  The hotel is a short airport shuttle drive away from Reagan National Airport (DCA).

I will be attending the Chicago Seminars on October 16-18 in Elk Grove, IL (15 minutes from Chicago O’Hare Airport).  Tickets are not on sale yet, but you can see the rest of the details on this FlyerTalk thread.  I think the Chicago Seminars is a great value since it is 2.5 full days, starting on Friday afternoon and going all day on Saturday and Sunday.  I already bought my plane tickets to the event.  Here is my review from last year’s Chicago Seminars.  If you are really lucky, you will get a chance to meet Ray – the ultimate credit card churner.  He is quite an interesting character :)

Last but not least, I will be flying down to Orange County for Mother’s Day weekend (May 8-10) so I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in an OC Meetup on Saturday afternoon at In-N-Out at the Tustin District.  Let me know if you are interested in meeting.

I met both you and Ray at the FTU Advanced in Chicago last fall. You’re right, Ray is a character and definitely a well-loved and well-known attendee as every presenter acknowledged him in some way. I definitely put the Chicago Seminars on my calendar for this year. Thanks Grant for the heads up!

There is no real agenda. Usually we meet out front for 30 minutes, order lunch, continue talking outside and then leave after 2-3 hours. I like to break the ice and act as a moderator. After a few minutes, the group naturally separate into smaller groups and discuss various MS techniques, award booking tips, or cool places they have been to. It’s always fun.
