Positive Changes to Virgin America Elevate Silver & Gold Elite Members

Good morning everyone, I just received the following email from Virgin America with negative positive changes coming to Virgin America Elevate silver and gold members.  I am a Virgin America Gold Member thanks to my status match from Alaska Airlines (which was itself a status match from Southwest Airlines).  Starting today (April 27, 2016), Virgin America Gold Members will earn 12 Virgin America miles per dollar spent, up from 10 Virgin America miles per dollar spent.  Since each Virgin America mile is worth roughly 2.2 cents per point (CPP), that equates to a ~26% return on paid flights.  That is pretty incredible!

Here is a breakdown of the changes for Virgin America silver and gold members:

Virgin America Elevate Gold Email Update 2 Virgin America is now offering gold elite status to members of the JetBlue Mosaic program.  To complete the status match, click here for more info.  Virgin America Gold Members also get free access to the new ViaSat WiFi onboard most Virgin America planes.  Lastly, Virgin America is committed to making no (additional?) changes to the Virgin America program for the “next several months – and potentially until the end of the year.”

Grant, will the status match work in reverse? I’m Alaska MVP and Virgin Silver. Do you think Southwest would give me a match?
