If you’ve signed up already, or plan to sign up for the newest Alaska Airlines promo, called Dash for the Miles, here’s some news for you. I registered for the promo right away and started working on the three tasks for the miles. The Opinion Survey, IMHO, is a waste of time. That story is for another time :) But the other two, one for dining and one for shopping using the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan portal, are easy enough to do, so I got started on those.

I made my qualifying purchases through their shopping portal and even got an email informing me of my qualifying purchase and miles I earned. This email even had the Alaska Airlines logo on it. But when checking my Alaska Airlines mileage activity, I saw that the miles had not posted. I read online that people’s miles posted very quickly with this promo, so I wondered what was going on.

I had to contact Alaska Airlines for an upcoming trip so I asked to be transferred to the Mileage Plan division to check on this promo. Maybe I hadn’t registered correctly for Dash for Miles. Maybe I had misread the requirements. I had no idea. I have to say I was a bit surprised when the Mileage Plan rep said she first had to read through the whole promo because she wasn’t familiar with it. Yup, I had registered just fine. She saw my qualifying shopping spend, too. But after checking into it, she said they post miles every Wednesday night. Who knew?

So I’m figuring the people online who got their miles posted so quickly must have done their qualifying purchases either on Tuesday or Wednesday for the miles to be posted so quickly.

Just in case you’re wondering, as I was, what’s taking so long for your bonus miles to post, the posting happens once a week on Wednesday night!
