Good morning everyone, happy Friday!  I don’t know about you, but I have big plans this Columbus Day Weekend.  I used a Hyatt Free Night Certificate and 30,000 Hyatt points to stay 3 nights at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa on Del Monte Golf Course (15,000 Hyatt points / night or ~$200 / night).  I am going with my girlfriend on a relaxing weekend trip.  Monterey / Carmel holds a very special spot in my heart because my family and relatives used to drive up to Monterey from Southern California every year for Thanksgiving week.  Some of my favorite childhood memories happened in Monterey / Carmel, so I am very excited about returning.

The only thing we are doing this weekend it visiting the world famous Monterey Bay Aquarium on Saturday morning and wandering around the aquarium looking at the aquatic life.  Tickets are $50/person, but I bought them through Viator’s website and went through TopCashBack to get 4% cash back.  I don’t have anything else planned for this weekend, but I am sure I will keep us both entertained.

Enough about me, I want to hear about your Columbus Day Weekend plans.  Leave a comment describing your weekend plans and I will select my 3 favorite comments.  Each winner will receive a $10 Amazon eGift Card.  The contest ends when the Columbus Day Weekend ends (Monday, October 9 at 11:59pm PT) and the winners will be chosen on Tuesday morning.  I will send out the Amazon eGift Cards shortly after picking the winners.

If you have any questions, please let me know.  Thanks for sharing your weekend plans and have a great Columbus Day Weekend everyone!

DC! A former roommate and good friend is getting married, so that’s the main reason we’re going to celebrate with him and his future wife! Doesn’t hurt that there is a ton of cool stuff to do and great places to eat in the area for the rest of the weekend.

Great timing. We are planning to possibly go to San Francisco/Monterey in Feb 2018. Would love to hear trip report of the Hyatt and aquarium in future. I was looking at Hyatt Monterey vs Carmel property.

Our plans for Columbus day is to go to Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, CT with our 9 year old twins. We are big aquarium fans! Curious how Mystic will compare to your Monterey aquarium visit. Lots to do in the Mystic area with the old seaport and lots of shops and dining options. Thanks for sponsoring contest.

I’m originally from Pebble Beach, so right in the same area! My plans for this weekend is to attending a cousin’s wedding and then do absolutely nothing! Might not sound like the most glamours weekend, but sometimes you just need to relax

Hosting friends from out of town. We are doing a coffee tour of the suburbs on the CT coastline. Drink at every coffee house along the CT coastline. Probably won’t be able to hit all of them, but will try.

My family is actually taking a Columbus Day week trip since one less day to take off from work is a great reason to travel ;) We’re flying out to Taipei on Saturday and splitting the week between the W Taipei and Hotel Proverbs, both SPG hotels. Super excited for all the food~~! Nom Nom

While Monday isn’t a holiday for us, we’ll be spending the weekend planning future getaways (thanks to discounts and frequent flier miles, we’ve go the air tickets already) to Cannon Beach (flying to Portland, OR); San Diego; Ft. Lauderdale; and Rio for New Year’s! We’ll be finalizing things to do and places to dine.

Just staying at home, watching TV/DVDs, dreaming about our next travel destination (Dallas for a conference), and no real trip until January 2018 when we go to Cabos on a timeshare preview + airfare booked with points!

Reason why we’re not traveling? We have no Columbus Day, have to work! My husband has a dentist appointment on Columbus Day too, so that’s a one-two punch for both of us on a supposed ‘holiday’

So to everyone who has Columbus Day off, have fun for both me & my husband (and my teammates who all have to work or those who don’t have this holiday!)

After enjoying Oktoberfest last weekend in Munich then a few nights in the Swiss Alps, I’m in Milan for the weekend. I thought I might take a day trip on Sunday to Genoa, to see where it all began!

Finishing up planning for upcoming trips to Japan and China! Since I am using miles and points, it takes an extra day or to to put the puzzle together :-)

i am staying near great smoky mountains national park. each day of the extended weekend i am out for a “century” on my bike. each 100 mile ride will criss-cross and cross-criss the appalachian trail several times. the climbs will be heinous, but what goes up must go down, and i’ll be glad to let gravity do the work! all this being said, it looks like hurricane/tropical storm nate will soak me, but better to be soaked with rain than soaked with sweat! ha

thanks for your site. and thanks for the chance to win!

Going to Vancouver. My bday was Oct 1 so this is my “birthday trip.” Used 20k Avios to book DFW-YVR on AA round trip and using my 2 free nights from the Fairmont card for the Fairmont Pacific Rim. A friend is using UR points for another hotel for our 3rd night. Our Columbus Day Monday is Thanksgiving Day in Canada. Enjoy Monterey!
