IHG PointBreaks Hotels + 100% Bonus on Purchased Points = Very Cheap Award Nights

It’s great news when the new IHG PointBreaks Hotel list comes out at the same time IHG is having a 100% bonus on points purchased! This deal on IHG points expires on November 3, though. With IHG PointBreaks, award nights at certain IHG hotels are only 5,000 IHG points. This is the best way to stretch those IHG points into many more hotel stays. You’re able to book these hotels from Monday, October 30, 2017, for stays through January 31, 2018. If you have any travel plans over the holiday season definitely check this list and see if any of these PointBreaks hotels fit your plans. And remember, the best hotels sell out very quickly!

Do any of these PointBreak deals work for you? What’s the best PointBreak award stay you’ve ever booked?

Points break hotels are nearly all in out-of-the-way places where they know they will never sell out. Seldom in or near anywhere you would want to go.

Hi Jerry, They are definitely not for everyone’s plans, but some folks get good value from them. For sure this list didn’t have anything that I could use, either.

I certainly wouldn’t argue with San Diego being a nice location. Never been to Ft. Worth or Mobile, though. Thanks for reading, MM.

Tonei and I were looking at the list while we were in Singapore and there was definitely one hotel that interested me…the Holiday Inn Express in Mira Mesa.

Admittedly that’s because it’s close to my dad’s house in Rancho Penasquitos (and my cousin’s house in Scripps Ranch) but also would allow me some privacy of my own. Plus, while it is dated, I could walk across the street to a Gyu-Kaku or get Filipino food at Manila Sunset.

Though obviously for most folks it isn’t quite a choice hotel for a visit to San Diego…but I do feel it’s not too bad either. It’s not like any of the Mission Valley hotels are stunners and it’s a reasonable 15-20 minute drive to most places people would want to visit in San Diego (you’d be spending just as much, if not more, time driving to La Jolla from Mission Valley!).

Hi Jon W in Singapore :) Gyu-Kaku is a good choice! People were staying in Mira Mesa for ComicCon when all the downtown locations were either sold out or too expensive, so it’s a good location for getting downtown or to North County. True about it being just as good as Mission Valley. All areas of SD are pretty accessible to the whole county, but you and I are prejudiced! Enjoy your trip!

We’re going on a cruise in December. We have to fly to the departure port city, and I was able to grab two nights (one before and one after the cruise) at a Candlewood Suites not too far from the airport. Granted, it’s not like scoring an Intercontinental, but better than paying full points price. This is how I get the best use out of Points Break hotels. Don’t go out of your way just to stay at one of these hotels, but if it fits into plans you already have, then grab em.

Great point, Richard. Glad you were able to show us some real life examples. I’m new to IHG, so looking forward to using my IHG points in whatever ways work best!
