Reader Question: How Would YOU Improve AMEX Offers?

Good morning everyone, greetings from Guatemala City, Guatemala (GUA).  As I was reviewing my American Express credit and charge cards, I thought of 2 ways to make AMEX Offers better and more useful to cardholders like us.  My purpose for this post is to get a few good ideas and share them with American Express in the hope that they read the suggestions from this post and incorporate some of the suggestions into their website and mobile app.  I’ll start first and if you think of any other suggestions, please leave a comment below.  Thank you.

Right now, AMEX Offers can only be filter by specific categories.  To me, this feature is useless because there could be good deals in every category, so I don’t want to exclude any AMEX Offer just because it is in a category that I do not shop at frequently.  I would love to see AMEX Offers sortable by expiration date, date added, merchant name, and by discount (dollar or percentage).  Then I could quickly see which AMEX Offers are ending soon, which AMEX Offers were added recently, and which AMEX Offers have the biggest discount.

Similar to the above idea, the Added to Card tab could use some work too.  Right now, when there are really good AMEX Offers available, I quickly add the AMEX Offer to all my eligible AMEX cards.  Unfortunately, if it is not an offer I can use right away, I often forget about AMEX Offers because they are “out of sight, out of mind.”  American Express should combine the AMEX Offer Available tab with the Added to Card tab.  American Express should put the AMEX Offers that I already added / linked to my AMEX card at the top of the page, so I know which AMEX Offers I still need to complete.  Another approach would be to include all the AMEX Offers in one tab, and then highlight the offers that I already added to my account.  Nothing is worse than forgetting to complete a good AMEX Offer just because you forgot the expiration date of the AMEX Offer.

For some reason, I stopped receiving AMEX OFFERS on my account across my 7 cards. Really strange that none of the cards are showing AMEX OFFERS except offers from American express itself on adding authorized USERS etc.

The misleading AmEx Offers are annoying. For example, the Spend $45 or more at Sam’s Club is only valid for the purchase of a new membership… why not just specify that in the link?

Please AMEX, make the travel offers valid for outside of the US. It is so frustrating to see offers for Marriott, Hilton, Starwood that are only valid within the US.

That is a good point, I got that most of the travel AMEX Offers are restricted to US properties. I think it had to do with the way transactions are coded in other countries.
