Kimpton Joined IHG Rewards Club (Now You Can Redeem IHG Points for Kimpton Stays)

This email popped into my inbox yesterday and it was a good reminder that Kimpton has finally joined the IHG Rewards loyalty program. A few months ago, I got my Chase IHG Rewards Credit Card and with all the IHG points I accrued, I decided this year I’d have fun experiencing some IHG properties. You all gave me some great recommendations. But now that Kimpton properties are in the mix, I’m asking you Kimpton loyalists to share some of that special KARMA and let me know which Kimpton hotels you’ve enjoyed the most. I’ve never stayed at a Kimpton hotel, so why not, right? Thanks, everyone.

Just booked 3 nights yesterday at the Kimpton Everly Hotel for early April to celebrate Thai New Year (Songkran) at the adjacent Thai Town. 2 nights on points (total 120K points) and the 3rd using the Chase IHG CC free night.

Great choice, Kalboz. The location of this Kimpton looks good, too. I might have to go see something at the Pantages and stay here! Thanks for your comment.

Close proximity to drive up to Griffith Park also. 4-minutes walk from the Palace (currently Avalon Hollywood) for after hours electronica dance parties all night long on the weekends! But that was in a different lifetime ;)

Def the Everly, the Epic, the Canary, the hotel in Amsterdam, and the one in Grand Cayman. Maybe the Born, in Denver. These are the only Kimptons where the exorbitant number of award points is worth offsetting high room rates. Otherwise, pay the cash rate. Great Kimptons in Winston-Salem, Milwaukee, Sacramento! Also, Ink 48, Zero-9, and Vintage!

My favorite domestic Kimpton is the Van Zandt in Austin. You walk in the door and they greet you with a cold brew (water or beer). If you have status, they will try to upgrade you to a suite. I’ve been upgraded on comp stays. There are a huge number of suites available overlooking the river and the park. They have bath salts for a soak in the tub and if lucky, the tub has a floor to ceiling window to gaze out while soaking. And, of course, it’s Austin – food, music, fun.

Great suggestion, Jana. I’m also overdue for a trip to Austin. Some many cities, so little time :) Maybe I can get a cold brew coffee on check-in!
