My June 2016 App-O-Rama Results: 155,000 Miles/Points and $650 AT&T Phone Credit

Good morning everyone, TGI Friday!  Earlier this week, I wrote My Upcoming App-O-Rama Credit Card Strategy – I need your Feedback!  I really appreciate all the great feedback you guys gave me and I did my best to incorporate that advice into my App-O-Rama strategy.  Last week, my “good” “friend” Julian (aka Devil’s Advocate) over at Travel Codex wrote this post: A New and Better Way To App-O-Rama.  In that post, he describes his “Elongated App-O-Rama” strategy where he applies for several cards over a period of days, instead of applying for several cards within minutes of each other (like any sane person would do).  Like any good friend, I listened to his advice and did exactly what he said I adamantly disagreed with his thought process and continued with my App-O-Rama strategy as before.

The one piece of advice that was super helpful to me was knowing which credit card company pulls from which credit bureau.  Luckily, my friend Emery has credit monitoring services from all 3 credit bureaus and he told me which credit bureau each credit card company pulled from.  Depending on your state, the information will differ, but since we are both in California, the data is reliable:

  • US Bank – TransUnion
  • Barclays – TransUnion
  • Citi – Experian
  • Bank of America – Experian
  • Comenity – ?

2016 Eurotrip Travel and Expense Summary

Good afternoon everyone, here is a summary of my 2 week trip to Europe from January 2016.  Here is my planning and booking process: Hotel & Flight Bookings for LHR, CDG, NCE, MUC, VCE, and DUB.  Here is a visual representation of my intra-European flights.  I also flew from SFO-LAX-LHR on American Airlines and DUB-SFO on Aer Lingus (not pictured).

Hotel Review: Hilton Munich City as Diamond Elite Member (Executive Lounge + Nearby S-Bahn Station)

Good evening everyone, greetings from Venice, Italy.  Here is a quick hotel review from my short 2 night stay at the Hilton Munich City.  After we landed, we took the S8 S-Bahn train from the airport to the hotel.  The Hilton is within steps of the Rossenheimer Platz station (Google Maps) and costs €10.80 for a one way trip.  I used Hilton HHonors points for one night and my Hilton Free Weekend Night Certificate for the other night (thanks to the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Credit card and the $10,000+ spend I put on the card).  Check-in was very easy and I was excited to see what being a Hilton Diamond felt like for the first time.  I got a nice room on the 5th floor and access to the executive lounge on the 6th floor.

Barclays Sign Up Offers: $400 Barclaycard Arrival, 50,000 Lufthansa Miles, 35,000 Hawaiian Airlines Miles, and 40,000 US Airways Miles

Which Credit Card

Barclays Sign Up Offers: $400 Barclaycard Arrival, 50,000 Lufthansa Miles, 35,000 Hawaiian Airlines Miles, and 40,000 US Airways Miles

Full Disclosure: I don’t personally have any Barclays credit cards.  I have applied for some credit cards in the past but have always been denied due to “too many recent credit inquires” – so it is not by choice (not my choice at least) that I do not have credit cards with Barclays.

It might be hard to believe, but I actually have credit card affiliate links (only from Barclays Bank though).  I hardly ever talk about credit card sign up bonuses, unless I am specifically applying for them during an app-o-rama (see March 2014 App-O-Rama and November 2013 App-O-Rama).

You can view and apply for a Barclays Credit Card on my credit card page.  With that said, here are some of the my favorite Barclays Credit Cards:

Barclaycard Arrival – 40,000 points ($400 Statement Credit) after spending $3,000 in 3 months (no annual fee the first year, then $89 a year after that)
