How to Redeem your Hilton Grand Vacations $200 “Spend A Night On Us” Rebate

Back In November, I participated in a Hilton Grand Vacations timeshare presentation in Las Vegas at The Hilton Elara (Part 1 and Part 2).  As part of my “reward” for going to the timeshare presentation, I was awarded a $200 “Spend A Night On Us” gift certificate for any US-based Hilton Hotel.  Here is how the rebate process works…

The certificate is only valid for 6 months from the date of your timeshare presentation, so you gotta act fast.  Instead of bringing the certificate to a Hilton Hotel and presenting it to the front desk, they make you pay for the entire stay and submit a rebate form (see below) and wait 6-8 weeks for the rebate check to arrive.

$200 Hilton Credit

Fast forward to mid January, I spent one night at the lovely Hilton SFO Bayfront Hotel (hotel and lounge review here).

Hilton SFO

During checkout, I used my Citi® Hilton HHonors Reserve Card to pay for the stay.  When I got back home from my trip, I submitted a copy of my Hilton Portfolio along with the complete rebate form (above) to the Hilton Grand Vacations department.

Hilton SFO Bill

I checked out of the hotel on 1/18/14 and submitted the rebate shortly after 2/3/14.  It was until 3/17/14 that I received the rebate check.  Along the way, you can check the status of your rebate online.

Hilton Free Night

About a week ago, I received an email that said my rebate check had been approved.  Looking at the rebate amount, I see that I only received $139, instead of the $156.43 I originally paid for the stay.  It appears that you will only be compensated for the price of the hotel room, not any applicable city or state taxes.  Bummer.

Hilton Free Night Approved

Just yesterday I received my official rebate check from Hilton Grand Vacations.

Hilton Rebate Check

If you are interested in going to a Hilton Grand Vacations time share presentations, all you have to do is call Hilton regarding your Hilton HHonors account.  It can be about anything.  Toward the end of the call, they will ask you if you would like to hear about an “exciting offer exclusively for Hilton HHonors members”.  You say yes.  They transfer you to the time share department.  You answer a few questions.  They ask you if you would like to visit Las Vegas, Orlando, or New York City.  You chose whichever city you want to visit.  They have 3 day / 2 night stay and 4 day / 3 night stay packages.  Unfortunately, you have to prepay for your stay package.  They give you a great nightly rate, plus they offer a ton of freebies.  I received the $200 “Stay A Night On Us” certificate, 15,000 Hilton HHonors Points, and 2 free dinner and show tickets for a show in Vegas (which I haven’t had a chance to use yet…).  Orlando and New York may have other freebies.

If you have any questions, I recommend reading Part 1 and Part 2, otherwise, please leave a comment below.  Have a great night!

It only took 2 hours and was very interesting. The perks plus the discount room rate made it a good deal. I’m not sure how many 24 year olds have timeshares so they knew it was unlikely that I would buy. I haven’t been to timeshares in Mexico or other countries, but it seemed very orderly and not a huge waste of time. I would do it again if they gave me the perks again.

I participated in a presentation held in Vegas last September and used the certificate I received for a double tree stay in Nashville. I am waiting for my “spend the night on us” refund. What’s interesting is, I can neither look up the status on line ,nor when I call the number can the rep find me. I was told to re submit the form. I also only have a customer number which according the rep means nothing. I am Hilton Honors not sure why this is being so hard?

Uh oh, that doesn’t sound too promising. Keep an eye on the rebate, but you may need to resubmit the rebate if don’t hear back in 1-2 months. This process is really annoying.

Was this from attending a Hilton timeshare presentation? Is it a 16 digit Visa or MasterCard gift card?

Hi Craig, I hope you can use your $200 Spend a Night on Us rebate before it expires. If you need extra time, contact Hilton and see if they can extend the expiration date.

I would never going to the Parc Soleil by Hilton Grand Vacations Timeshare (TS) in Orlando. After I say no to the TS salesperson (his name is Johnny – bald guy). He started bad altitude with me. Very unprofessional, he called me name and making fun at me. Hilton is a good brand, can’t believe they hire this guy.

I had mine on 4/10/2017 at the Hilton Grand Vacation Las Vegas.
The presentation was actually attempting. If I have a little extra money I would have been signed up.
The sales person was treating us in a professional manner so we were enjoying those 2 hours.
Tip. once you went thru the first sales person, they are going to bring another person for you to buy travel brochure, about $1700 for 10 plus nights at anywhere Hilton property. However, we turned down it as well. 2nd sales person was a bit upset but oh well.
3 night free stay plus $200 certificate.
I recommend if you are free bee person.

I went to the same place, and told them I am not interested in buying upfront. But the sales guy kept going through their textbook tactics and waste both our time. At the end, the “manager” came and pretended he understood we are not buying, and gave me the instruction of getting the perks. But he still tried to sell me a “trial” membership for less cost, and dragged me for another half hour. This Orlando place should be avoided, unless you have lot of time to waste.

That’s where we went for our timeshare presentation and they were so aggressive. Our sales rep had the manager come over and try to talk us into it and she was a BITCH. She was demanding answers from us and I was just like I’m sorry nothing you say is going to change our minds and she walked off without saying a word. Funny because in the beginning she walked over and introduced herself and was all fake nice saying she’s here if we need anything lol.

All timeshare people have a good cop / bad cop personality depending on the situation. Plus, you can believe about 1% of whatever they say to you.

I would/will NEVER do this again. Totally misleading program from start to finish. Paid a discounted rate for a timeshare stay – we ended up staying in a Doubletree resort on the ocean that was still being updated from its previous life. Very disappointed. Then we drove to the truly Grand Vacation location for the presentation. Two things happened unexpectedly. 1) the news that the amount we’d paid for our mini-vacation was not being refunded immediately but that we had to buy yet another night and submit a form for a refund meant we were only going to be refunded for buying another night, and we were simply out the cash for our mini-vacation at the less than stellar location we had received. 2) Had I not noticed that the VISA refund application was ONLY for a stay at a Hilton, I would have thought it could be for any Hilton property as I had been led to believe previously. That’s only true if you know what property you want and ask for it right then. Since I knew I would use it at Hilton Garden Inn for a specific future stay within the 6 month period, I stopped the salesman and asked why the application was only for a HIlton hotel. Because it was already printed, I had to go to the Grand Vacations desk and request another certificate which they graciously did. I booked my Hilton Garden stay and submitted the application right after the stay at the end of December. Today, almost exactly 8 weeks later, on Feb. 28, I received a VISA debit card for $169 which was the base rate for one night. I paid $191 for the night. So it cost me $22 to stay that night, but it’s wrong to make people think their mini-vacation will be reimbursed. I would NEVER buy a timeshare from this company. I own with Marriott, have attended many presentations, received VISA cards on the spot for restaurants, a cruise certificate twice, and never been deceived like this. However, my experience was so obnoxious that I won’t even go to the Marriott timeshare presentations anymore. We’ve had a timeshare for 15 years and used it every year, but this sort of treatment gives all a bad name.

I’m really sorry for your experience with the Hilton timeshare vacation package. You can believe about 10% of what the salespeople tell you, but I’m glad you have enjoyed your Marriott timeshare. My parents have a Marriott timeshare and get great value out of it each year.

Hi i attended a presentation while visiting on vacation in Fort Myers, Florida. At that time i was given a $200 rebate to stay at my next hotel visit with you. I planned and stayed within 6 months after my presentation. However, I received an email that i was denied the $200 rebate because it was not within 6 months of issuance date. This is not true. i have all the information but nowhere can i find where to argue this case. Please respond.

I’ve seen so many poor reviews about them either being pushy or charging people’s credit cards for things they didn’t do. This is the only time I’ve ever seen positive reviews. It makes me very nervous about it.

Timeshare presentations are not intimidating. Just be prepared to say no when they start talking about money. Just remember, if timeshares were such a great deal, they wouldn’t need pushy salespeople to sell them :)

I am trying to follow up on our rebate from this presentation (also in November but it was Near Legoland in CA). We submitted the form and receipt (from a later Hilton stay), made sure to follow all guidelines & fine print to a “t” but still have seen nothing in the mail. We’re getting ready to move and don’t want it lost in the mail forwarding process! My questions is: What is the website you used to track your rebate status? There seem to be several sites claiming to be “Hilton Grand Vacations” but they are clearly sister-sites, scam sites, etc. I went to hiltongrandvacations.com but saw nowhere to track rebates. I hope you don’t mind helping me! Your site is very cool and I’m glad I found it through this search!

I believe it took around 8-10 weeks after submitting the rebate to get a check from Hilton. I think they sent me an email with a link to track my rebate status. I will check at home and see if I can find that link.

    Hey there!
I also recently completed a timeshare presentation with HGVC and received the $200 spend a night on us certificate. I know any promotional Hilton stays don’t earn you points/status credit (ie. no points for the discounted 3-night HGV timeshare presentation promo).
So, a question for you, for your stay at the San Francisco Airport hotel, did you receive Hilton HHonors points/stay credit/night credit (towards status) even though you were getting reimbursed?
I’m 4 nights away from Gold status and don’t want to use the certificate if the night won’t count towards this years status!

    Thanks so much in advance!

Good evening Maggie, essentially the stay credit is like a work reimbursement. You pay for the stay using your credit card (preferably a Hilton credit card) and earn any Hilton points, elite nights/stays credit, etc. You then submit your total folio bill to HGVC and they will send you a check for your final amount, up to $200. The reimbursement does not affect any Hilton elite status you may have.

P.S. An easy way to get Hilton Gold is to apply for a Citi® Hilton HHonors Reserve Card or an American Express Hilton HHonors Surpass Credit Card. Both credit cards provide free Hilton Gold status for as long as you have the credit card.

Hi Grant – on this rebate form it says extras like food and beverage, sales tax, parking, etc are not paid as extra expense – only room rate will be reimbursed. But what about if the parking is included in the room rate. I don’t want to be denied of the whole thing because the parking was included and it was not a separate cost. I appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks,
    Mark

    1. Grant

When you submit the folio (hotel invoice) to Hilton, it will break everything down (room rate, resort fees, occupancy tax, etc.). If parking is included in your rate, it might say parking $0 or it might show parking as a negative charge. Either way, you should be fine getting reimbursed for your room rate (the line item on the folio that says exactly what the room rate is, not including any other charges or taxes). Let me know if you have any other questions.

I just came across this blog in a search. Nice read. I have this certificate too, from a HGV stay and time-share presentation in May. I too am noticing the restrictions on hotels. There are a ton that are not valid (Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton, Embassy Suites, Doubtetree, Homewood Suites, etc.). What’s left that is eligible? I looked on Hilton’s website for their brands, and it seems that all of them are excluded.

I think you can only stay at Hilton hotels, not any other Hilton brands. There is usually a Hilton near other Hilton brands. When you search on Hilton.con, just check the box for only Hilton hotels.

Sorry I’m a year late. When you sign up, they will ask you (or you can ask) for which hotels you’d like to stay in. I remember they asked if I want to say at the regular Hilton, Doubletree, Embassy Suites or Hilton Garden Inn. After I completed my timeshare presentation, the “cashier” asked me the same question so I guess there’s a possibility to change your mind the day of, even if you already specify your preference over the phone.

    1. Grant

It’s probably a pretty good deal if you need a hotel in Orlando for 3 days and 4 nights. The timeshare presentation is fairly simple, just keep saying no until it’s over.

I am about to use my rebate soon at a Hampton Inn. Am I supposed to put in my address and information in the area above the customer number etc? Or was that supposed to be filled by the people at HGVC? Mine is currently empty. I doubt it matters? Thanks!

According to my certificate- Hampton is not eligible. I stayed at a “Hilton” Homeward suite and read the fine print afterwards that it is not eligible. The certificate is valid only at a Hilton Hotel- so now I have to figure out what exactly is a “Hilton Hotel” I really enjoyed my trip to the Elara but trying to use the rebate might be more hassle than what I expected.

Hi Barbara, yes, you have to stay at a Hilton Hotel, not a related Hilton property. There are several Hilton Hotels near large cities, so if you have any upcoming trips to a large city, you should see if there is a Hilton Hotel nearby. Best of luck!

I suppose the stay needs to be by you, not someone else? I am going through the presentation next week. But want to give the free night stay rebate for my son’s stat at a Hilton. Any idea if this is possible? I am thinking I could book the room in my name and add him as an additional person. I see online, however, I can’t pay. It just reserves the room. So I could see the payment being in his name when he checks out, or possibly he would get away with using my credit card. Not sure how all this would work out.

It happens my father also went through one of these and has a certificate to use as well. He would give it to my son as well, but not sure it would work through for the rebate. He would be much less willing to give his CC to his grandson, lol, as well.

I’m not 100% sure but I would think that if you booked a hotel in your name, added your son as a guest to the reservation, and he paid for the reservation, you would be fine. As long as you submit the folio bill along with the certificate to Hilton, you should get reimbursed. You could always say that you had to leave early in the morning, so you let your son check out later in the afternoon and put the charge on his credit card.

I participated in the Hilton Las Vegas timeshare presentation back in June 2016. Stayed at the Hilton SD in October 2016. I submitted my folio with my certificate to get reimbursed. I never heard from them so I followed up in November to find out they never received my information. Good thing I kept copies. The bad thing is they want originals, after talking to gal in customer service she agreed to make not that I would be sending copies since my originals got lost in the mail. With the 6 month deadline approaching, I made sure to resubmit all my information right away. Called back to make sure my information was received and was told yes but I had missed the 6 month deadline. So my submittal was denied. I explained to the gal what had happened and she was able to read the notes on her system that my original submittal was within the time frame and offered to have it sent to the review team for approval. We are now in February 2017 and still pending. No email.. No correspondence… I continue to call and told my status is pending… Not happy at all!!! I have read others reviews on different site and the same thing seemed to happen to them. I don’t want to believe everything I read because I really enjoyed my stay at the Hilton and I have a lot of family members who are time share owners and was thinking of buying in myself before this happened. Don’t want to assume or report any negative reviews just yet, but is this Hiltons way of not reimbursing for your stay

I sent it in within all time frames. called two months later they said they never received it, must of got lost in the mail please resend if i have copies sent it in and they said they would let me know within 5 day and gave me a tracking number. they never contacted me. so i called on day 6. the lady said well you never stayed at a embassy suites and then she looked at it and said oh i guess you did. then she asked me if i have a copy in front of me and i said yes . she wanted the customer number on it. i said there is not one. she said she needed that. i said i have my hilton diamond number and she said she did not want that and that the elara was to put that on it. I told her i do not work for hilton and would not know i needed that. she said she would escalate it but it would take 11 more days. Well if this is hilton diamond service no more for me. Does any one have experience with booking a hotel over $200 a night? The room rate over the weekend during which I stay was over $200 per night. Will I still be reimbursed for $200? I did not notice any mention on the room rate in the terms.
By the way, they offer a rebate card instead of issuing a check now I think. And they also let me pick a particular brand right after the sales talk so I had to book into that brand.

Hi Grant. Went to Orlando and got a $200 “Spend A Night On Us’ certificate. I followed the instructions to a “T”, and mailed in the required forms. It included a receipt for a one night stay at the Hilton Denver Inverness. Room rate of $195.00 (before taxes but including breakfast). There was not indication on the receipt how much breakfast cost, if purchased separately, just that it was included in the room rate. Just got a $100 rebate card, with no other explanation. A $95 haircut ! Do you have a telephone number, where representatives from Hilton Grand Vacation will discuss this matter. The rebate center phone number, and all extensions, are recordings. Nothing online, nothing at the VISA rebate card site.

That is pretty ridiculous that you were not paid for the remaining $95. I booked a different Hilton Grand Vacation package recently and here is the phone number listed. Maybe this number will help:

      Call 877-617-2582 to confirm your Tour date and time. Representatives are available between 7:30 – 1:00 a.m. Monday thru Thursday, 7:30 – 12:00 a.m. Friday, and 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Call 1-866-686-0601…that is the rewards number. They told me they had a “Miss Print”… I paid $209 and only received $100. I called and now they are sending another $100 card in 6-8 weeks.
Good luck! I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks Grant, and Matt Long ! I called the number that Matt provided and spoke with a representative who looked up the records and promised to send the remaining $95.00. No reason mentioned for the discrepancy. Like Matt’s situation, I was told that it would take between 6-8 weeks. Looks like a good resolution. Again, thanks to you both.

Received the $95 card on February 1st, so well within the 6-8 week window, as promised. Thanks again Grant and Matt !

That’s great to hear that the remaining $100 GC is on its way. Report back when you get the GC and how long it took to arrive. Thank you.

This happened to me too. After an excruciating HGV timeshare sales experience at Elara Las Vegas, I received a rebate form for Hilton Spend a Night on Us – up to $200 off room rate only, not including tax etc. Once you choose your brand – Hilton, Doubletree, etc., you can only stay at hotels in that brand.

I stayed at a Hilton with my Hilton Spend a Night on Us Rebate, at a room rate of $204 before taxes, and followed the instructions to send in rebate. They say you must send in the original form – I made a copy of the form for my records, which was critical, because otherwise you will have no way to reference this rebate.

In the mail a couple months later, I get a nondescript $100 Rebate Card. No mention of Hilton, HGV, Spend a Night on Us, or anything on the card, letter, or envelope. It wasn’t until I went back to rewards-central.com/hilton that I saw the “misprint” in their system. They had coded the rebate to Doubletree Spend a Night on Us, which I guess only qualifies for $100. But get this – in the notes, under Product Name, it says “Hilton One Night Reimbursement”!

I tried calling the number on the rebate form to no avail. It’s only because I found this thread that I called the correct number to get through to HGV Rebates, and they immediately said “oh yes, looks like a mistake, we’ll send the remaining amount within 8-10 weeks.” I’m sorry but this is not a coincidence and goes with the entire shady HGV operation, at least as I experienced it.

    Thank you, Matt Long!

Yikes! The HGV business is pretty shady, which does not surprise me or anyone who has gone to a timeshare presentation. I am glad that my post could help you out and I’m sorry you had to go through the trouble to get what you deserve.

They did the same thing to me. Spent $230 on a hotel room and they sent a nondescript visa gift card for $100 with no mention of Hilton. Thanks to this thread, called the number and they seemed ‘unsurprised’ by the ‘mistake’ and said they would send another$100 card. Clearly this is their M.O. and they are banking on people not noticing they have been cheated or not having the time or patience to deal with it. This should be illegal.

    Grant,
We spent four nights at the Hilton Garden Inn on Kauai using Hilton Honors Points. Will we still be eligible to receive our Hilton Garden Inn $100 Spend a Night on Us rebate? I don’t find that exclusion anywhere on the certificate.
    Thanks,
    Patty

I believe it has to be a paid night, so that Hilton can reimburse your spend at the hotel. I stayed at that hotel last March, it was in a good location, hopefully you enjoyed your stay there.

Can you book 2 rooms with the $200 certificate of spend a night on us? Rooms where I want to book are only $139 a night for one.

Hi, we did this promotion on the big island in Hawaii. It was a gorgeous property but everything was so expensive. Just to park our rental car was $39/day. We had our presentation and stopped at the desk to pick up our $200 certificate and after we got home and really read the fine print, it’s only good at Hilton Hotels & Resort properties and we may have a problem finding one anywhere close to us here in Arkansas. Ours expires 7/15/2020 and now with this deadly virus I’m hoping they’ll waive the six month restriction.

Yes, I would definitely reach out to the Hilton timeshare department and see if they can extend your certificate or issue you a new certificate that expires in 2021. Good luck!

I received my “Rebate Card” but I cannot use it. How do I find out what my password is? Is there a way to reset my password? I went to the website on my card, but it did not help me. Thank you.

How do I find/reset my password for my rebate card?

Hi Julie, I am not familiar with the rebate card, since my rebate was a paper certificate. What does your rebate card look like? Is it like a prepaid debit card? Is there a special code to use?

I had the same offer and they said my rebate was sent out 7/4/22. I called and said i never received it in the mail and said i would it would now get resubmitted. Its now 8/17/22 and i have yet to receive my rebate of $185.00. So Hilton aint all that grand in my book. I guess ill turn them into the Better Business Bureau for fraud.

    Here’s our experience

March17th-20th: We also did the free stay (3 nights/4 days) in Orlando @ Hilton Grand Vacations property at SeaWorld
March 19th: After the two-hour timeshare presentation, they refunded the money we paid for the trip less taxes/fees ($199) back to my credit card.

We also got the “$200 Spend A Night on Us” rebate certificate for Double Tree Hotel at the same desk before leaving the venue of the timeshare presentation.

We checked out of the HGV @ SeaWorld Orlando on march 20th(morning), spent day at a theme park, We then checked in at a Double tree at night (please note, We had pre-booked the double tree via Hilton Honors app couple of weeks prior, which is also why we requested for a Double Tree “Spend A Night on Us” rebate cert post Timeshare presentation).

When booking on Hilton.com or on the app, If you plan on paying for parking, breakfast etc, I’d suggest you book that as a combo with your room rate as that will ensure you get refunded that full amount as your Folio (Hilton Honors’s receipt) will only indicate room rate.
if you pay of this parking or breakfast separately from your room rate, they will be so listed on your receipt and you will only get refunded for only the room rate.

So in our case, for the double tree booking, We picked the option for “free buffet Breakfast included for each guest” in our room rate when booking,
When we got back home, we printed the Folio (Hilton Honors’s receipt) from Hilton honors account and mailed it with the fully filled “$200 Spend A Night on Us” rebate on March 30th

April 7th: We received an email from HGV providing tracking # to monitor the rebate status.

May 4th: Status updated to “Fulfilled” , rebate to be mailed out within 7-10 business days

May 11th: Visa card received for the full amount paid for room rate

Hi Stephen, that sounds like the perfectly planned and executed way to receive and redeem the $200 certificate. Good tip on booking a more expensive room rate that included parking and breakfast.
