How to Add Authorized Users to American Express Credit Cards (Small Business Saturday) and New AMEX Offers

Good morning everyone, according to Greg (aka Frequent Miler), American Express Small Business Saturday is coming back this year (November 29).  He wrote a great post (link) on how to maximize earnings while shopping at small business.  The easiest way to rack up savings is to add authorized users to your AMEX credit cards.

The first thing you need to do is log into your American Express account and click on More Account Options under the credit card you want to add authorized users to.  Most credit cards will let you add authorized users for free, but some premium cards like the American Express Platinum Card and some business cards will charge you for authorized users.  You probably don’t want to add authorized users to those cards just for this promotion.

Click the Add Others To Your Account link, not the similarly sounding Add & Manage Authorized Users link.

AMEX PRG Card Account Options

Select the credit card you want to add authorized user to and enter the 4 digit code on the front of the credit card.

Enter PRG Security Card Code

Read the small box of text under the credit card to see if there is a fee to add authorized users to your credit card.  Then fill out their personal information including SSN and click Verify.

AMEX PRG Card New User Form

Verify the personal information is correct and click Confirm.  The next screen should say that your new authorized user cards are on their way.

You should not add multiple authorized user cards to every credit card you have, just 1 or 2 authorized users per card should be plenty.  If you add too many authorized users, you may trigger an American Express Financial Review.

Here are some of the latest AMEX Offers that showed up in my account:

If you have any questions, please leave a comment below.  Have a great weekend and I hope to see some of you in Chicago for FTU Advanced!

Also, what do you think of getting the following amex cards (for SBS and other offers)?
SPG, Everyday, gold, Delta, green, Blue Sky, and Hilton. They all have no annual fee (for the first year, at least). Too many at once? Multiple browser method? What are your thoughts? Please elaborate…
    Thanks!

The most you can probably get in one day is 2 cards. The first should go through, but the second app will be blocked by the system since it thinks it is a duplicate application, even when they are separate cards. Pick the 2 best cards that interest you in terms of daily spend and sign up bonus. SPG is a good choice along with another card. What is your goal other than to get cards for Small Business Saturday?

I would probably add authorized users to my Serve Card if you are only after AMEX Offers. I wouldn’t apply for any new AMEX credit cards just for Small Business Saturday.

I don’t think I ever wrote about AMEX Sync, I believe it is very simple to sign up for the service, you will have to authorize American Express and Twitter to communicate on your behalf. I think Wandering Aramean has a Twitter tool to automatically enroll you in every public AMEX offer.

Thanks for that. I just realized that maybe I don’t need Twitter for Serve. Maybe I can sign up at ShopSmall.com, just like for Amex credit cards. Do you know if that would work?
