How to Get 4 (or 5) Audible.com Audiobooks for $8 (LivingSocial Deal)

Good afternoon everyone, I have another great deal for you.  I am a self-proclaimed “audiobook worm” and love “reading books with my ears.”  If you fall into the same category, here is a great audiobook deal for you from Audible.com.  Currently, LivingSocial has a 3 month trial to Audible for $9 ($8 if you purchase within 5 minutes of landing on the page).  The way this deal works is that you get a 3 month trial to Audible and receive 1 audiobook credit per month.  Each audiobook credit can be used to download practically any audiobook from Audible.  After the 3 month trial is over, you will be automatically enrolled in Audible’s $15.95 monthly plan (you can cancel before then for free).  I will show you how to get a bonus 4th (and possibly 5th) audiobook for free below.

As of April 3, Cash Back Monitor is reporting that Saving Star is offering 9% cash back at LivingSocial.  If you do not have a Saving Star account, you can sign up for a free Saving Star account (my signup affiliate link).

Here is the strategy that I recommend to get 4 (or maybe 5) audiobooks for $8:

  1. Create a Saving Star account (link) and click through to LivingSocial.
  2. Search for the Audible LivingSocial deal (link) and complete your purchase within 5 minutes to save $1 on the final price.  (Earn 9% cash back on a $8 purchase = 72 cents cash back).LivingSocial Account Audible Purchase
  3. Activate your 3 month Audible membership and download your first audiobook with your first Audible audiobook credit.Welcome to Audible Email
  4. Wait a month for your second Audible audiobook credit and download your second audiobook.
  5. Wait another month for your third/last Audible audiobook credit and download your third audiobook.
  6. After finishing your third audiobook but before the end of your 3 month trial, go through the process of cancelling your Audible membership.  When it asks you why you are cancelling, select the option that says the Audible membership is too expensive.  You should be given the option to receive a $20 Audible audiobook credit to keep your Audible account open.
  7. Use the $20 Audible audiobook credit to download your fourth audiobook.  Depending on the price of your fourth audiobook, you might have enough Audible audiobook credit left over to pay for a full or partial fifth audiobook.Free Audible Download Email
  8. Go through the cancellation process again and completely cancel your Audible membership.Cancel Audible Membership Email
  9. Enjoy your 4 or 5 audiobooks for $8.

Here are all the Audible books I have purchased over the last year (most with the above steps). All of these audiobooks are ready by their authors, which is especially nice when the authors are comedians (it feels like a multi-hour comedy routine):

If you take this deal through Swagbucks.com instead of LivingSocial, you can get 3 Audiobooks at a cost of negative $8. Yup – they’ll give you $8 worth of free gift cards or paypal cash on top of the cost of the trial, cancel anytime and keep your free audiobooks.

Grant, I have a couple Audible accounts to get my two books a month, and recently found out about the retention bonuses.
I tried doing it again right away, out of curiosity and it said it would give me $20 to stay, but it didn’t post… which it shouldn’t have.

Have any idea how long you’d have to wait to do it again?
I’m guessing three months between cancels?
