Membership Reward Points Post Quickly for Dollar Shave Club & Kate Spade AMEX Offers

Good morning everyone, greetings from toasty Tucson, AZ.  A few days ago, I added a Dollar Shave Club and Kate Spade AMEX Offer to my American Express cards.  With Dollar Shave Club, I purchased a $10 Dollar Shave Club eGift Card and earned 1,000 American Express Membership Reward Points.  With Kate Spade, I purchased a $250 Kate Spade eGift Card and earned 5,000 American Express Membership Reward Points.  I then sold both egift cards to The Plastic Merchant (my go-to gift card reselling site).

Dollar Shave Club Kate Spade Redeemed AMEX Offers

Both purchases posted to my American Express Everyday Credit Card on April 4-5.

AMEX ED Credit Card Transactions

A few days later, both the 1,000 and 5,000 American Express Membership Reward Point bonuses posted on April 7.  I prefer to earn Membership Reward Points instead of cash back since Membership Reward Points can be worth way more than 1 cent per point when redeemed for airfare with the American Express Business Platinum Charge Card or transferred to an airline or hotel partner.  Another plus, the bonus Membership Reward Points post to your account right away, while the cash back from AMEX Offers will only post when your statement closes.  My American Express Everyday Credit Card statement closes on the first of every month, so if I had earned cash back instead of Membership Reward Points, I would have to wait almost an entire month for the statement to close.

It depends which American Express cards you have. If you have cards that earn AMEX MR points, you should get AMEX Offers that earn MR points. If you only have cards that earn cash back, you will only earn cash back.

I had the dollar shave club on two amex cards and was lazy and didn’t save to both when I first saw them. Then it disappeared off of one card, so I had to settle for 1,000 points. Shame on me

There is no referral link for The Plastic Merchant. You just need to fill out the form online and wait to be approved as a seller.

    Hi Grant,
I’m not sure how you’re concluding that cashback only posts at the end of your statement. Across the hundreds of offers I’ve done cashback has posted in the same timeframe as MRs- a few days.

I think I said the wrong thing. You are right, when I make a purchase that triggers the AMEX Offer, the statement credit usually posts to my card within a few days. You can’t really do anything with the statement credit until the statement closes. I’m not sure if that makes sense or not.

I purchased the Kate Spade on April 22nd and the extra MR have not posted. Are they slowing down how quickly they post? I see in the terms 90 days after 05/02.

I think yes. The first few AMEX Offers that paid out in Membership Reward Points posted very quickly, but the last few AMEX Offers are going very slowly.
