Trip Report: Butler Suite at the All-Inclusive Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica

I landed in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and was happy to see a Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall check-in desk inside the airport, just past immigration.  The employees were efficient and served drinks while they checked you in. Within minutes, the Hyatt hotel shuttle was there to pick us up.  The trip to the Hyatt Ziva was less than 30 minutes.

Ziva vs. Zilara

Hyatt offers two all inclusive products: the Ziva, which is for families, and the Zilara, which does not allow children.  In Jamaica, the properties are next to each other.  Both products share a common beachfront and you can go to any of the restaurants on either property.  Of course, if you have children, they are not allowed on the Zilara side, which includes the Zilara beach, pool, and restaurants.  The Ziva has its own beach, pool, and restaurants so this would probably not be a huge problem.

The Butler Suite

I was upgraded to a butler suite.  The room is large, as you would expect of a suite, including a mini-bar that was free, and the most unique feature was the butler service. This room would normally cost over $1,500 USD per night, but I didn’t pay anywhere near that.

Here are more photos of the butler suite:

The Butler Service

The butler service starts with your own issued cell phone.  This phone has your butler’s cell phone pre-programmed in it.  Anytime you need anything, you simply call your butler.  While I was there, I used the butler service to drive me on a golf cart to restaurants, no waiting in line; the butler brought me a cooler of beer to my chair on the beach, and the butler would bring food to you, either on the beach or to your room.  The butler service can be used for pretty much anything and was a very nice amenity.

The Food

There were many restaurants on the Hyatt properties: Brazilian Steakhouse, Italian, Jamaican, buffet, and more.  They were all delicious and I enjoyed the walk up food stalls at the pool that served jerk chicken and pork.  If you love spicy food, Jamaica serves scotch bonnet pepper sauce that is extremely hot, but very tasty.

The Lounge

As a World of Hyatt Globalist elite member, I had access to the lounge.  This was a nice lounge, but at an all-inclusive property, you really don’t need a lounge.

ZEN Spa

The Ziva and the Zilara both have spas.  The Zilara looked interesting as it was literally on the beach, but it was closed for renovation when I was there.  I did not use any spa services during this trip, but the staff allowed me to photograph the ZEN Spa inside the Ziva.  It looked very inviting and I am sure would have been as nice as the spa at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta or Hyatt Andaz Costa Rica.

The Views

Of course the views are amazing.  Here are a few more photos of the property.

Overall, I would return to the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall at Montego Bay, Jamaica, again.  My stay was only 5 days and a few more days would be nice to explore more of the Hyatt property.  Lastly, here are 2 videos I took from the beach of the Hyatt Ziva.  Let me know if you have any questions about the property.

Awesome review! Thanks! We’re thinking of going with our 5 yr old. Were there many families with children when you went?

I’ve stayed there a few times. Food has gone way down hill compared to when they first opened. Great staff and good booze. I just wish they didn’t lower the food quality so much. The food is a huge step down compared to the other ziva and zillara properties.

Interesting. I have not stayed there before so don’t have anything to compare to.

I love Hyatt Zilara. It looks like the Jamaica options are pretty awesome. Do you think if you stayed in a non-butler room, your experience would have been as good? I’ve found at Sandals you miss out on a lot if you don’t have a butler room.
