Good afternoon everyone, I have one more deal for you.  Vistana (the timeshare / vacation ownership division of Starwood) sent out an email for 2 very good vacation packages for the Sheraton Vistana Villages Resort in Orlando, Florida, and the Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort in Cancun, Mexico.  If you book a three night stay before 8/31, you can get your 3rd night free, 1,000 bonus SPG points, and a $25 resort credit.  There is no timeshare requirement, but I assume you will be offered to attend a timeshare / vacation ownership presentation during your stay for some freebies.  Doctor of Credit actually had a post today about timeshare freebies.

Here is a sample booking made at the Sheraton Vistana Villages Resort in Orlando, Florida.  Use this link to get the promo code VO4.  Nights are pretty cheap for Labor Day weekend.

Here is a sample booking made at the Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort in Cancun, Mexico.  Use this link to get the promo code VO4.  Good prices for Labor Day weekend.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day everyone!

I’m not sure, I think you need to book directly on SPG’s website, but maybe you can call the Citi Prestige Travel Center and they can use the code VO4 for your hotel reservation.

The U.S. State Department has warned its citizens about traveling to Cancun and Los Cabos, two of Mexico’s most popular tourist destinations, after a surge in violence in those regions.

A travel advisory issued Tuesday upgraded the warnings for two states, Quintana Roo and Baja California Sur, saying turf battles between criminal groups have resulted in violent crime and shootings in which innocent bystanders have been killed.

For years, both regions were largely insulated from the drug war violence that has engulfed other parts of Mexico, but this year they have each seen a major uptick in killings.

There have been deadly gun battles in downtown Cancun, and in January, five people were killed at a nightclub in nearby Playa del Carmen. In Los Cabos, a municipality on the Pacific Coast that includes the cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, three people were shot to death this month at the entrance to a popular beach.

That is very sad to hear. Both regions of Mexico are such beautiful places. I hope the regions clean up and become safer for tourists to visit.

Just to clarify: Vistana, created as part of the Marriott merger, has a licensing agreement to market the former Starwood brands. It is part of a larger company which also works with competing brands. Marriott Vacation Club folks will be happy to tell you that buying from Vistana doesn’t guarantee any future relationship with SPG/MR, as the licensing agreement could end and the former Sheraton/Westin properties could become other brands (or no brand). I imagine the agreement guarantees the branding and program relationship would remain at least for several years, but I haven’t checked. It will be interesting to see how this is handled once SPG goes away completely.
