Too Many JetBlue Points from Amazon Shopping? Convert them into Other Miles & Points

Good morning everyone, happy Friday. I don’t know about you, but I’m racking up a ton of JetBlue TrueBlue points from shopping on Amazon. Ever since JetBlue added Amazon to their points partner list, I’ve been earning 3x JetBlue points on all my Amazon purchases. Since the Amazon partnership launched, I’ve earned 7,000+ JetBlue TrueBlue points. That is great and all, but I’m not much of a JetBlue flyer. I’m currently sitting on 70,000+ JetBlue TrueBlue points, but I have no idea what I’m going to do with them. That’s when I remembered that JetBlue allows you to convert points into other miles and points through Points.com. Let’s see if there are any decent conversion options out there…

After logging into my Points.com account, I went through their list and added as many loyalty programs that I had available.  I then went through the exchange process to see what I could exchange my JetBlue TrueBlue points into.  Here is what I found out…

Here is what 1,000 JetBlue points can get me…

  • 425 Air Canada Aeroplan miles
  • 500 Amtrak Guest Rewards points
  • 637 IHG Rewards points
  • 749 La Quinta Returns points

Those rates aren’t amazing, but if you would rather have Air Canada, Amtrak, IHG, or La Quinta points, those transfers aren’t terrible either.

I also remembered that you can convert La Quinta Returns points into miles and points with a few other programs.  Here are all the programs you can convert La Quinta points into.  I also ran the numbers to tell you how many JetBlue Points it would take to receive these points balance.  Since 1,000 JetBlue Points = 749 La Quinta points, here are the corresponding calculations.  The conversion rates are downright terrible.

  • 8,011 JetBlue points = 1,000 American Airlines miles
  • 13,351 JetBlue points = 2,000 American Airlines miles
  • 8,011 JetBlue points = 1,000 Amtrak points
  • 8,011 JetBlue points = 1,000 AeroMexico miles
  • 8,011 JetBlue points = 1,000 Alaska Airlines miles
  • 8,011 JetBlue points = 1,000 Avianca Airlines miles
  • 8,011 JetBlue points = 1,000 Frontier Airlines miles
  • 8,011 JetBlue points = 1,200 Southwest Airlines points

I am leaning toward converting JetBlue points into Air Canada Aeroplan miles, but I haven’t made any transfers yet.  What would you do?  If you have any questions, please leave a comment below.  Have a great weekend everyone!

I have, before they rolled out their award chart. I called them up and it was pretty easy. Don’t forget you get 10% back having a JetBlue card. Yes, it worked for maybe hawaiian airlines redemption.

Thanks Mark. I’ve booked flights to Hawaii with Alaska Airlines miles, KLM miles, and British Airways Avios, but never with JetBlue points. Have you booked Hawaiian Airlines flights with JetBlue points?

No I haven’t I only have like 1,000 JetBlue points lol. Figured it would be a good fit for you on the west coast :)

The Amtrak transfer is slightly compelling (is it 1:2 amtrak to jetblue???). if you can use AGR at .029 (non-saver, non-acela) this is pretty even. TruBlue points never expire so I wouldn’t rush to get rid of them. I have many more jetblue points and am just sitting on them for when I can use them, maybe Jetblue mint to europe someday soon. Imagine west coast to boston/jfk to europe in mint! Whenever that happens the points will be quite useful, at least for me, and I can’t see any change in value happening as its typically .013-.016 for redemptions as is. At least these miles are safe in the miles bank.

Non expiring miles is a nice feature of JetBlue, so there is no rush to redeem them. Just don’t hold on to them too long, they could be devalued some day.

Interesting that Hawaiian still lists Virgin as a partner, but not Alaska. Would be nice it you could actually pull up an award from anywhere in Montana served by Alaska to get somewhere….

6K JetBlue TrueBlue points will get you an inter-island flight on Hawaiian. It’s not specified but I assume this would be at Hawaiian’s coach saver level. This seems like a relative bargain because Hawaiian charges 7,500 Hawaiian Miles for this award at a minimum.

I’ve booked intra Hawaii flights for 3,000 Virgin America miles. I think that is the best deal, but I do t think you can book that any more.

How long does it take to post? Made a few purchases but so far, nothing yet (been a week or so.)

Also, am I right in that there’s no personalized link like it says there is on JetBlue’s site? Just sign in to JetBlue, click their Amazon link and go?

    Thx

Hi M, it usually takes 1-2 months for the JetBlue points to post to your account. I’m not sure if the link in JetBlue is personalized, but they do track your purchases very well, it just takes a while for the points to post.

One interesting quirk is that the points will be dated from whenever you made the purchase but only appear 1-2 months later. The end result is that your points may be getting added but you don’t notice it because it won’t appear in your recent activity and require you to dig through.

Oh thanks! I have 56k JetBlue miles that hurt my soul. Ok that’s a little dramatic but I really have no idea what to do with them and it’s good to know I can convert them. I just got a spend $1000 get 5000 miles offer on my JetBlue card (the no annual fee version) so now I can actually see a point in doing that.

This is great! Like you I’ve got a bunch from Amazon and have never flown JetBlue and have some IHG points about to expire so this is very timely!

I find it hard to track these points- I wish jetblue gave more information- I have 1300 points that posted Jan 29 but not sure what purchase(s) these are for- I shop amazon a LOT!! It would be nice if there was an interface like topcashback or ebates, etc. – unless I am missing something. happy to receive the points but don’t think I am getting all of them as like I said- I spend a lot of $$$ at amazon
