When Does the AMEX Hilton Aspire Free Weekend Night Certificate Post to Your Account?

Good morning everyone.  A few months ago, I was approved for the American Express Hilton Aspire Credit Card (referral link).  As part of sign up bonus, you get 100,000 Hilton Honors Points after spending $4,000 in 3 months, you get Hilton Diamond Elite Status as long as you have the credit card, $250 airline fee credit every calendar year, and a Free Weekend Night Certificate every cardmember anniversary (good for a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night stay at qualifying Hilton properties).

A few days ago, I received the following email from Hilton with the subject line of “Your Rewards has arrived!” with details of my Free Weekend Night Certificate.  In today’s post, I will share how long it takes to get the Free Weekend Night Certificate and where you can see the code.

If you do not see that email, you should see the following note in your American Express online account that says “Congratulations! You’ve earned a Weekend Night Reward.”  If you click that link, you can see the details of the Free Weekend Night Certificate.

You will see your Reward Number and the date the reward was issued.  You then have 12 months from the date the Free Weekend Night Certificate is issued to book and stay at a qualifying Hilton property.

Here are the complete terms and conditions of the Free Weekend Night Certificate.  The terms state that you will receive the Free Weekend Night Certificate 8-14 weeks after opening the credit card and 8-14 weeks after your anniversary date.  According to the American Express rep I spoke with a few weeks ago, the Free Weekend Night Certificate usually posts 60 days after getting approved for the credit card.

Lastly, if you do not see the email or log into your American Express online account, you will also see the Free Weekend Night Certificate posted in your Hilton account as “ASPIRE CARD ACQUISITION WEEKEND NIGHT“.

So how long did my Free Weekend Night Certificate take to post?  I was approved for the credit card on April 12 and my Free Weekend Night Certificate posted on June 18, slightly more than the 60 days the American Express rep stated, but in the 9-10 week mark.  Since you credit card anniversary date will not change, your Free Weekend Night Certificate should post around the same time every year.

If you have any questions about the American Express Hilton Aspire Credit Card, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day everyone!

Oh yes, I forgot about that benefit. I haven’t used it yet, but I have a few “resorts” in mind. Where did you stay?

Hi Grant, so in other words, the sign up bonus for this card is 100k pts and one night free weekend cert?
Will I eligible for sign up bonus if I already have Surpass and the old non annual fee Hilton card?

Also, can I sign up for Aspire, Ascend, and new non AF hilton and get bonus for all?

Yes, that sign up bonus is correct, plus a few other benefits.

The AMEX Aspire CC is a new product, so anyone can get that. The AMEX Ascend CC is the upgraded version of the AMEX Surpass CC, so if you’ve had the ANEX Surpass CC in the past, you are not eligible for the AMEX Ascend CC now. Same goes for the no annual fee AMEX Hilton CC.

Do you know when the points post? Is it right after you meet the spend or when the statement closes. Thanks!

If I already have the ascend card, cancel it, and then open a aspire card. Am I eligible for the sign up bonus on the aspire card?

Yes, the American Express Hilton Aspire Credit Card is a different credit card than the American Express Hilton Ascend Credit Card, therefore you can get the bonus on the Aspire CC. I have a referral link for the Aspire CC, if you are interested. Good luck on your application!

I just got approved for the Aspire in the last 48 hours! My question is, can I retro apply the free weekend night to an existing booking in December 2019? Thank you!

Probably. Just wait until the Hilton Free Weekend Night Certificate posts to your Hilton account. Then call Hilton and ask if the hotel that you booked for your December 2019 is available to be used with your Hilton Free Weekend Night Certificate. They should be able to cancel that 1 night stay and refund your payment or points. Then they can book the room with the Hilton Free Weekend Night Certificate.
