Citi Double Cash: $125 Cash Back Sign Up Bonus After $625 Spend (Targeted Referral)

Updated 10:30pm PT on 11/18: I have reached my cap of 20 referrals, I cannot refer any more people.  If you were referred, you should receive an email from Citi within a few days.  Thank you to everyone who used my referral link and good luck with your application.

Full Disclosure: This post is out of the norm for me, but I thought it would help some of my readers.  Citi sent me a targeted email where I can earn up to $500 cash back for referring 5 readers to the Citi Double Cash Credit Card.  I would normally not post this on my blog, but if you use my referral link, you can earn $125 cash back as a sign up bonus.  If you were to apply for this credit card directly on Citi’s website, the Citi Double Cash Credit Card currently offers no sign up bonus, just “0% Intro APR on balance transfers for 18 months.”  By using my referral link, you earn $125 cash back and I earn $100 per referral.

Good afternoon everyone.  Last week, I received this email from Citi regarding my Citi Double Cash Credit Card.  I can earn up to $500 cash back for referring 5 people to the Citi Double Cash Credit Card.  Strangely, Citi also wants me to spend $500 on my Citi Double Cash Credit Card in the next 12 months.  That is not a problem, since I use this credit card often to earn 2% cash back on my purchases.  I normally use my American Express Blue Business Plus Credit Card since it earns 2x Membership Rewards Points on all purchases, but if American Express is not accepted by the merchant / retailer, I go with my Citi Double Cash Credit Card.  Here is the email I received from Citi.

To test out the referral process, I sent a referral to my girlfriend.  Here is what the referral email looks like.  To earn the $125 cash back, you need to spend $625 in 3 months and this offer contains the 24 month language (meaning you can’t have opened or closed a Citi Double Cash Credit Card in the last 24 months).  If you currently have a Citi Double Cash Credit Card that was opened more than 24 months ago, you are able to get a second Citi Double Cash Credit Card and earn the sign up bonus on the second card.

As I mentioned earlier, this is the current sign up page for the Citi Double Cash Credit Card, showing no sign up bonus, just a balance transfer offer of “0% Intro APR on balance transfers for 18 months.”

To make matters even stranger, I have to manually refer people to the Citi Double Cash Credit Card.

If you are interested in apply for the Citi Double Cash Credit Card, please leave a comment below using your first name, last name, and email address.  I will then send you a referral email through Citi’s site.  I will then remove your last name and email address from the comments section.  The emails from Citi take 1-2 days to process, so do not be alarmed if you do not receive an email from Citi right away.  This is first come, first served in terms of sending referral emails.  According to the referral terms: “You are limited to a maximum of 20 referrals and 5 bonus awards per 12-month period beginning from your enrollment date. Maximum Cash Back Bonus accumulation for this offer is $500 Cash Back in a 12-month period beginning from your enrollment date.”  I will send 20 referral emails and then I won’t be able to send anymore for 12 months.

If you have any questions about the Citi Double Cash Credit Card, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day everyone!
