Citi ThankYou Points: 25% Transfer Bonus Ends Soon

Avianca LifeMiles and Citi’s ThankYou points programs linked up in late 2017. From time to time Avianca offers a bonus when transferring ThankYou points. From now until December 12, 2018, they are offering a 25% bonus when transferring Citi ThankYou points to Avianca LifeMiles. That’s as good a bonus on transferring ThankYou points as I’ve seen.

I’ve been a fan of LifeMiles for years now. I’ve gotten incredible value from booking award flights using Avianca LifeMiles on Star Alliance partners. Their program doesn’t pass along fuel surcharges, and redemption rates for LifeMiles are very reasonable. This past year I’ve used LifeMiles to book trips to Europe. I even had to call Avianca for help, and the call went quickly and smoothly. Given their call center’s reputation, I may have gotten lucky.

Nevertheless, I’m proactive about accruing LifeMiles and making great award redemptions with them. You can learn more about this bonus here, or just head to your ThankYou points account and take advantage of this offer. Only a few days left!

Good luck to find award tickets with Avianca. In addition to very limited award ticket, points will be expried in 12 months only. So many disadvantage.

HI Juliana, Sorry to hear you’ve not been able to use Avianca LifeMiles to your advantage. I’ve been able to book many award tickets on their Star Alliance partners, though. Hope your luck in booking from Avianca’s award chart changes soon! Thanks for stopping by and reading.

    HI Shelli,
Kind of a random, but somewhat on topic question. I am looking to build my Avianca LifeMiles possibilities for award travel on Star Alliance. I have MR and UR, but have yet to get into the TYP system. I am currently 7/24 (one is a charge card), and was just targeted for a Delta 75,000 bonus with no lifetime language. But….I’m thinking I should hang back from any further applications until we see the bonus for Prestige. I am afraid I’ll be denied for my first time….I guess there always has to be a first time…

Good to think these things through, knicolel. All the TYP I accrue are for spending on hotels and using the Prestige 4th night free benefit. I don’t think anyone knows yet what the bonus will be on the new Prestige card and last I heard they’ll open up applications again in late January. I can’t tell you what to do, of course. It depends on what travel plans you have in the coming year. I prefer to earn and spend miles/points thinking a year at a time. Think your plans through as best you can and then go from there. Not much help, am I? Sorry.
