10 Day Asia Trip Report Summary (China, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan & Nepal)

Good morning everyone, I hope your week is going well.  By the time you read this post, I will be flying Cathay Pacific business class back to San Francisco.  At the beginning of the trip, I flew Air China business class from San Francisco to Beijing.  For the last 10 days, I have been hopping around Asia and I visited these cities:

  • Beijing, China (1 night)
  • Yangon, Myanmar (3 nights)
  • Dhaka, Bangladesh (1 night)
  • Paro & Thimphu, Bhutan (2 nights)
  • Kathmandu, Nepal (2 nights)

This was my first trip to Asia – so why did I decide to go to these places? My friend loves to travel and wants to visit every country on Earth, so he already went to the popular Asian countries, so I decided to join him and check out some of the less traveled Asian countries.  I plan to cover these items in future blog posts:

Beijing, China

  • Hilton Beijing Capital Airport (Hotel Review)
  • Private Beijing tour to the Great Wall of China and Tiananmen Square

Yangon, Myanmar

  • Best Western Chinatown Yangon (Hotel Review)
  • Sule Pagoda (Buddhist shrine), Yangon Zoological Gardens (Zoo), bike tour & Grab Taxi App

Dhaka, Bangladesh

  • Le Méridien Dhaka (Hotel Review)

Paro & Thimphu, Bhutan

  • Raven Tours & Treks and the Tiger’s Nest hike

Kathmandu, Nepal

  • Hyatt Regency Kathmandu (Hotel Review)
  • Bouddhanath Stupa (Buddhist temple), Central Zoo, & Swayambhu Maha Chaitya (Buddhist temple aka Monkey Temple)

If you have any questions about my upcoming trip reports, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day everyone!

I’m really looking forward to these trip reports! I remember when you were planning this itinerary and I’ll be interested in how you felt about these places. I have never been to Asia either, as I’ve been focused on Europe, Mexico, Central and South America, Caribbean and USA travel, but it’s time to broaden my horizons! I hope it was as exciting as it looks!

I really had no idea what to expect, but I was very surprised how much I enjoyed visiting Beijing and Myanmar. Unfortunately, I wasn’t as impressed with Bangladesh and Nepal. Hopefully my trip reports will give you a glimpse into what it’s like to travel to these places, albeit just for a few days.

Looking forward to HR Kathmandu review. I’m staying there for a day. Then 1 day at the crowne plaza since it was on the pointsbreak deal.

The Hyatt Regency Kathmandu is great. It’s a category 1 hotel, so only 5,000 World of Hyatt points. I decided to upgrade to a club room on the club lounge floor. Those rooms are only 7,000 World of Hyatt points. The club lounge has great food in the evening, the buffet breakfast is great, and the pool/jacuzzi is great.

I used Avianca LifeMiles to fly Air China business class from SFO-PEK. For my return home, I used Cathay Pacific Asia Miles to fly Cathay Dragon and Cathay Pacific business class from Kathmandu, Nepal (KTM) to Hong Kong (HKG) to SFO. For the other flights around Asia, we just paid cash and booked them directly on the airline’s website.

Thanks for the tip on Beijing, I can definitely agree with you on that!
