Unboxing my Upgraded JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton Visa Infinite Credit Card: Card Art & Welcome Letter

Good morning everyone, happy Friday!  Last week, I Upgraded my Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Visa Signature to JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton Visa Infinite.  A few days later, I received a small UPS Next Day Air package containing my new JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton Visa Infinite Credit Card.  I will show you what came in the welcome package.  But first, let’s start with the card art.  This credit card has gone through a few different redesigns and this is the most current version.  I have pictures of the 2 earlier card designs at the bottom of this post that I took from my original JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton Visa Infinite Credit Card unboxing in 2016.

Inside the small UPS Next Day Air package, was this small black box.

Inside the box, there was a white envelope and the credit card in an impressive black holder.  Inside the white envelope, there was my welcome letter and benefits guide.  I covered all the card benefits here.

When you open the black holder, you can see and feel the new credit card.  It is kind of difficult to get the credit card out of the holder, but luckily there is a small hole on the backside that you can use to push the new credit card out of the holder.

That is about it for the unboxing portion of this post.  As I mentioned earlier, here is the current card design.  It is not as thick or heavy as previous versions.  It appears to be a darked black than previous versions too.

Here are the first (top) and second (bottom) versions of the credit card.  It seems as though the Ritz Carlton lion gets smaller and smaller on subsequent redesigns.  Neither of the older versions supported tap and pay.

I also noticed that my Marriott Bonvoy account received 3 free club level upgrades that expire on December 13, 2020 (13 months after posting to my Marriott Bonvoy account).  I believe these upgrades can only be used on paid Ritz Carlton hotel bookings.

If you have any questions about the JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton Visa Infinite Credit Card, please leave a comment below.  Have a great weekend everyone!

The Ritz Carlton is one of the most undervalued cards, the Ritz lounge up grades lead to huge savings on food and drinks, while on vacation

I feel like I’m too cheap to pay for a Ritz Carlton hotel, but I’m sure the lounges have great food. Which Ritz Carlton properties have you stayed at and enjoyed the most?

I find the Ritz Card of some limited value, but enough to keep paying the annual fee. Free night = $300. $300 in incidental credit = $200. Club upgrades – ehh.. I often find suite rates with club access for slightly more than the rate you need to book to use the club upgrade and I’m in a suite. $100 airline discount – kind of useless except for shorthaul flights since you have to book economy. However, one trick if you’re flying a family or 4 is to get an authorized user card. Then you can make 2 bookings and save $200.

The AU trick is definitely interesting to me regarding the $100 Visa Infinite discount air benefit. I tend to book short flights from SFO and save a few hundred bucks a year with that perk.

Yep, family of 4 here from Seattle. I’ve got several authorized users… for free of course. My retired parent often buys short haul down the coast, SF or Vegas using the benefit. We often do a weekend gateway down the coast too, PDX, SFO… we once flew to PDX for just $20 per person using $100 discount combined with Alaska flash sale. And all of them got the Priority pass with restaurant access and unlimited guest. I have just about every premium cards out there but this is the most underappreciated card. I will miss the original heavy metal card once they expire. I did receive new fake metal cards and is no comparison.

I believe you need to keep the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless CC for at least 12 months before upgrading to the JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton CC.

Hi Tom, great question and great timing. I just added an authorized user to my Ritz Carlton CC and that card is coming tomorrow. I’ll let you know more tomorrow :)

EDIT: Hi Tom, the authorized user credit card came today and it is the flimsy metal card, not the original unbendable metal card.
