Work from Home Diary 6: Spring Cleaning with Marie Kondo & My Strange Amazon Purchases

Good afternoon everyone.  I started sharing my thoughts regarding working from home in a series of Work from Home Diary posts.  Feel free to share your work from home feelings in the comments section below.  For today’s update, I wanted to share how we spent last weekend (cleaning out our closet) and some of the strange items I recently purchased on Amazon due to the coronavirus pandemic.  I’ve been a big fan of Marie Kondo and her Konmari cleaning/organizing methodology.  If you have no idea what I am talking about, I highly recommend checking out her Netflix show Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.  When we were at Target last weekend, we bought a few organizing bins and went through every single row of our towel / medicine / cleaning supply closet.  After several hours, the closet was much cleaner and made it much easier (for me) to find things.  With Spring just around the corner, it’s time to do some Spring cleaning!

I don’t know about you, but since I have been spending so much time at home (and shopping online), I’ve bought some really strange things on Amazon lately.  Here is just a sample of some of the interesting things I bought recently:

  • Georgia Pacific Toilet Paper (OOS) – since the great toilet paper shortage of 2020, it’s been really hard to buy toilet paper in stores.  After searching all over, I discovered this pack of 36 rolls of toilet paper.  This toilet paper is made for business use so it is not as good (aka soft) as Charmin and Cottonelle toilet paper.  The secret is to use the “cheap stuff” as the inner core and wrap “the good stuff” around the outside.
  • AmazonBasics Wireless Mouse ($13) – we watch some TV shows and movies from my laptop that is connected to the HDTV via an HDMI cable.  But it is a pain to get off the couch every time I need to pause, rewind, or fast forward a TV show or movie.  Now with this wireless mouse, I don’t need to get off the couch.
  • Philips Norelco Trimmer ($20) – with the great barbershop / salon shutdown of 2020, my hair is getting longer than usual, so I decided to have Laura *attempt* to cut my hair.  If my haircut looks bad, she is the only one who has to look at it for the next few weeks.
  • Royal Myanmar Tea Mix (30 packets for $17) – When I was in Myanmar last year, I fell in love with their tea.  It’s a powder mix that contains the tea, cream, and sugar and tastes great.  Laura found it on Amazon and I thought it would be fun to have it at home.  It is quite good.

If you have any questions about Marie Kondo or my strange Amazon purchases, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day everyone!

I bought that same exact Georgia Pacific 36 roll package lol. It came wrapped in red pkg, not blue.

Only $57! Hashtag Toilet Paper Panic

Been using my trimmers like a Flo-Bee to cut my own hair lately too. Back of my head is a little crooked but the cloth mask (made from boxer briefs) hide it well!

Haha, small world. My toilet paper pack came in a blue wrap inside a big cardboard box. I will keep you posted on my first at home haircut. Trimmer should arrive in the next few days.
