AutoSlash Saved Me Another $500 on 2 Rental Car Reservations

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you all had a great Father’s Day Weekend.  2 weeks ago, I wrote AutoSlash Already Saved Me $400 on 2 Rental Car Reservations.  Over the weekend, AutoSlash found even cheaper rates for my 2 upcoming Hawaii car rentals for Lihue and Kona, saving me an extra $500 (actually $536.52 total).  I was talking about AutoSlash over the weekend at a family gathering and did not run out of good things to say about the service, and here is why…

For my first rental in Lihue, here is the timeline of events:

  • 5/27 – Initially booked an Enterprise rental for $1,018.59
  • 5/28 – AutoSlash found me a cheaper Alamo rental for $899.95 (savings of $118.64)
  • 6/20 – AutoSlash found me a cheaper Hertz rental for $397.87 (savings of $502.08)

I almost missed the email since it came in late at 9:51pm, but as soon as I saw the email, I immediately clicked the link to book my new rental.

Here is my new rental car reservation with Hertz for $397.87.  I then cancelled my old rental car reservation with Alamo and plugged in the new reservation details on AutoSlash so they could keep checking to find an even lower rate.

For my second rental in Kona, here is the timeline of events:

  • 5/27 – Initially booked a Dollar rental for $899.12
  • 6/8 – AutoSlash found me a cheaper Dollar rental for $614.13 (savings of $284.99)
  • 6/19 – AutoSlash found me a cheaper Dollar rental for $579.69 (savings of $34.44)

Even though the price difference is relatively small, I clicked the link to book my new rental.

My first round of AutoSlash rebooking saved me $403.63 total and the second round of AutoSlash rebooking saved me an additional $536.52 total.  I am now up to $940.15 saved and I am hoping rental car rates keep dropping and AutoSlash can keep finding me cheaper rates.  I still have over a month to go before picking up my first rental car, so I will keep you posted if I am able to snag even cheaper rates.

If you have any questions about AutoSlash, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day everyone.

Hi Dan, Lihue is 6 days and Kona is 4 days, so not quite the weekly rate, but I will take whatever AutoSlash finds for me. I do miss the old days with cheap rental rates.

I’m not getting any love from AutoSlash. I made my car rental back in March for Kauai. It’s 16 days for an SUV and my quote is approx $1,250. So that’s around $75/day, which I guess is a good deal… ? I have no idea. It seems steep to me, but it’s been two years since we’ve traveled (had a baby before the pandemic hit), so I haven’t rented a car the summer of 2019! I know the world has changed and I know there’s a massive car rental shortage, so I think I’ll just count myself as lucky and go with that… lol. :-)

I think anything under $100 for an SUV is a great deal in Hawaii. I’m curious what the price is now if you tried to book the same reservation.

I love Autoslash but they have still not been able to beat the rate I found for a week in Austin when using my corporate friends and family discount.

Hi Joe, you must have a pretty good corporate discount code. Hopefully AutoSlash can find you a cheaper rate before you pick up your rental car.

Corporate discount codes are sometimes hard to beat. Are you tracking your existing rental with AutoSlash (www.autoslash.com/track)? What are your rental dates?
