Good afternoon everyone, I hope your week is going well.  A few weeks ago, Laura and I moved into a new home and we are in the process of getting custom closets installed in the bedrooms.  With that large purchase on the horizon, I wanted to get a new credit card to pick up another sign up bonus.  I saw that I was targeted by American Express to expand my membership by getting another business card.  I decided to get the American Express Business Gold Card.  I will share the application process and welcome letter below, but first, here are the front and back of the new card:

I went to this special link and it shows an Add Business Gold button.  Usually when you apply for a new card, you will see an Apply Now button, but if you are targeted and go through the expand your membership process, you see the Add Business Gold button.  The current sign up bonus is 90,000 American Express Membership Rewards Points after spending $10,000 in 3 months.  I don’t think this is the highest ever sign up bonus, but it fit with the timing for my upcoming custom closet purchase.

Since I was signed into the American Express website, the application was very streamlined and didn’t ask for very much information.  I was instantly approved and I don’t think American Express even did a hard credit pull, since all 3 of my credit reports are currently frozen.  I applied on April 5 and the approval email said I could view my new card number right away.  This is helpful for making online purchases or to add to a mobile wallet.  The instant card number is the same as the actual card number, but the expiration date and security code are different.

2 days later on April 7, my new card arrived via UPS Next Day Air.  It was already activated and showed up in my online account.  I love that American Express allows you to see and use your card number right away and that they expedited the new card to me.
