Targeted Bank of America Alaska Airlines Credit Card Referral Offer: 50K Miles + Companion Pass with $3K Spend

Good afternoon everyone, happy Friday!  Yesterday, I received an email from Alaska Airlines about a “Special Email Referral Offer.”  The referrer will get 15,000 Alaska Airlines Miles for each referral and the referee will get 50,000 Alaska Airlines Miles plus an Alaska Airlines Companion Fare (just pay taxes and fees up to $22) after spending $3,000 in 3 months.  The $75 annual fee is not waived.

The other current best offer I could find for the Bank of America Alaska Airlines Credit Card is for 40,000 Alaska Airlines Miles plus $100 statement credit plus an Alaska Airlines Companion Fare (just pay taxes and fees up to $22) after spending $3,000 in 3 months.  The $75 annual fee is not waived either.  So the only difference between the standard offer and the referral offer is whether you want a $100 statement credit or 10,000 more Alaska Airlines Miles.  In my opinion, 10,000 Alaska Airlines Miles is worth more than $100 to me (probably closer to $150), so I think the referral offer is better.

If you currently have a Bank of America Alaska Airlines Credit Card, you might have received the targeted referral offer yesterday with the subject line “#NAME#, get a 15,000 bonus mile offer when you refer a friend” from the the sender “mileage.plan@ifly.alaskaair.com”.  Let’s go through the referral process to see what it looks like.  To get started, I clicked the blue REFER A FRIEND button.

You can earn 15,000 Alaska Airlines Miles for each referral, up to 250,000 Alaska Airlines Miles total.  Enter your Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan number and personal information, then scroll down to enter your referral’s info, and then click the Finish and Submit button.

Here is the confirmation screen after you submit your referral.  Your referral must apply through the referral link, but if they have unsubscribed from Bank of America marketing emails, they will not receive the email offer.  If your referral is approved, you will receive the 15,000 bonus miles in your Alaska Airlines account in 60 days.

You will also get a confirmation email after you submit your referral from “mgm@mgm.bankofamerica.com”.

I referred myself to see what the email and offer looked like.  Your referral should get an email right away with details of the referral offer.  To apply for the offer, click the APPLY NOW button.

You will be taken to the offer page and you can apply by scrolling down and filling out the application.

I already sent a few offers to friends and family members who fly Alaska Airlines, but I have a few spots remaining if anyone else wants a referral.  Just comment below and I will send the offer to the email address you used for the comment.  If you have any questions about the credit card or referral, please leave a comment below.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Good question Dhammer53. The Alaska Airlines Companion Fare you normally get every year you pay the annual fee comes with the $99 + tax, but for this targeted referral sign up bonus, that $99 part is waived. You can see the details in the last few screenshots.

Interesting, and worth a closer look. Now where did I put my glasses!
That $99 saving makes the Companion ticket a good deal.

Yes, it is a great deal here. I still find good value out of the standard Companion Fare with the $99 + tax cost. Comes in handy for long distance flights from coast to coast or last minute flights. I was even able to book a round trip flight and add a third leg about a week later to my Companion Fare.

Thanks for your post. I was confused by the language- does the new cardholder gets to redeem the companion fare as soon as the spending requirement is met, or after holding the card for a year? (which I think is usually done) Thanks in advance if you know the answer.

Hi AJ, unfortunately, the link in the email to refer people isn’t working. I received the email on 8/11, so maybe the promo only lasted for a few weeks.

Hi Brandon, I remember seeing an email about this a few weeks ago, but can’t find the email now. If I see the offer again, I will respond to your comment.

Hi Brandon, I just received an email from Alaska Airlines with a new referral offer:

Recommend the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® card to your friends and family and receive 10,000 bonus miles for each qualifying approval.

Do you want me to send you a referral link?
