Good afternoon everyone, happy Friday! Today I wanted to share a quick tip that might save you from losing a very valuable free night certificate. If you’ve ever earned a Hilton Free Night Certificate from a credit card, you know how valuable they can be toward a hotel stay. Unfortunately, those certificates also come with expiration dates and those dates may not line up with your travel plans. Recently, I had a Hilton Free Night Certificate that was set to expire on February 10. Instead of rushing to use it on a nearby hotel, I decided to call Hilton (1-800-446-6677) and see if there was anything they could do. After explaining the situation, the rep offered to extend my existing certificate by 2 weeks.
To find your certificate and expiration date, log into your Hilton account, click your name in the top right corner, and scroll down to the Rewards section. You should see when your certificate is set to expire.
After speaking with the Hilton rep, I signed out and then signed back into my account. I followed the steps above and saw that my certificate was extended exactly 2 weeks to February 24. That gave me time to find a good use for the certificate.
Here are the terms and conditions for the certificate, along with the phone number (1-800-446-6677) to call to redeem your certificate for a hotel stay.
I know 2 weeks is not a long time, but it’s better than nothing and gives you a little longer to use the certificate before it expires worthlessly. I think Hilton is only able to offer a 2 week extension once, I don’t think they will extend it again if you call. Lastly, if the first Hilton rep is not willing to extend the certificate or doesn’t know how, just hang up and call back again.
If you have any questions about the process, please leave a comment below. Have a great weekend everyone!

Useful. Thanks.
You’re welcome, have a great weekend :)
Super. Thanks.
Since Hyatt and Marriott are both not allowing any certificates extensions, Hilton is the only major hotel chain that is still doing this.
Yes, that is true. I’ve tried with Marriott recently and they do not offer any type of FNC extension.
