Good afternoon everyone, I hope your week is going well. After reading about the new $395 annual fee Barclays Wyndham Earner Premier Credit Card and the new benefit that Wyndham Rewards points no longer expire for Premier cardholders, I became curious about my own account.

Wyndham tells you how many points expire next, but it doesn’t tell you when the rest of your points expire. I wanted to know exactly when all 111,018 of my Wyndham Rewards (WR) points were scheduled to expire, and it turns out there’s an easy way to find out.

The good news is that Wyndham Rewards customer service can email you two detailed reports that show exactly when every point was earned, redeemed, and scheduled to expire. Here’s how to request them.

To get started, sign into your Wyndham Rewards account, go to the Contact Us page, and click the Send Message button.

Select “Point Redemption,” fill in your contact information, write a short message asking when all of your WR points expire, and click Submit.

I sent this request on Saturday evening and immediately received an automated email confirming that WR had received my request.

About 8 hours later, on Sunday morning, I received a response that said, “I have requested that a statement to be emailed to you regarding the months and amounts that your points will start to expire.”

About 25 hours later, on Monday morning, I received a response with 2 PDF attachments.  The email said, “Here is a copy of your earnings and redemptions with Wyndham Rewards, as per your request.  Also, I have attached a copy of your points breakdown so you may see what was earned, used, available and expired.”

Here is the first PDF, which shows when I earned and redeemed WR points, along with the transaction date, transaction type, description, and number of points. I highlighted the 15K WR anniversary points I’ve received over the last 4 years.

Here is the second PDF, which shows when my WR points were earned, how many have been redeemed, how many remain available, and how many have expired. This report is incredibly detailed and makes it easy to see exactly when each block of WR points is scheduled to expire.

Below is the cleaned-up version of the expiration report, along with cumulative point totals and percentages that make it easier to see when the bulk of my WR points are scheduled to expire.  Here are some interesting observations:

• Only 4% of my WR points balance expires in June 2027.
• By the end of 2027, only about 12% of my current balance will have expired.
• The biggest expiration wave doesn’t occur until August 2028, when about 73% of my current balance reaches the 4 year mark.

That was much better than I expected. Initially, I was worried most of my points would expire shortly after June 2027, but the expiration dates are spread out over more than two years.

One strategy I’m considering is transferring 30K WR points to Caesars Rewards (CR) and then transferring them back to WR. Assuming transferred points are treated as newly earned points, this should consume my oldest WR points first and effectively reset the expiration date on that block of points for another 4 years. Depending on my travel plans in 2027, I may do a similar transfer to extend another block of 30K WR points.

Before requesting these reports, I had no idea when most of my WR points were scheduled to expire. It only took a couple of days to receive the reports, and now I have a much better understanding of when I need to redeem (or potentially extend) my points.
