Good afternoon everyone, I hope you had a great weekend. Last summer, Alaska Airlines introduced the new Bank of America Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite Credit Card, which included a generous welcome offer and a new 25K Global Companion Award benefit. I recently redeemed my 25K Global Companion Award and realized there weren’t many guides showing exactly how the redemption process works. In this post, I’ll walk through every step of the booking process, from locating the award in your account to confirming that the correct number of points were deducted after booking.
25K Global Companion Award at a Glance
- Saves up to 25,000 points on a companion ticket
- Works on Alaska Airlines award bookings
- Must be redeemed before expiration
- Any unused value is forfeited
- Applies automatically during checkout
In August 2025, I was approved for the credit card and received the 105K point welcome bonus plus a 25K Global Companion Award in November 2025. Here was the email offer I received from Alaska Airlines:
Step 1: Find your Flight
We needed a last minute flight from San Diego back home after the Fourth of July and I found this Alaska Airlines flight from San Diego (SAN) to San Francisco (SFO) for 2 passengers. The total cash price was $707, making this a good candidate for the 25K Global Companion Award.
Step 2: Locate your 25K Global Companion Award
After signing into your Atmos Rewards account, click your profile icon, and then click Discounts / Companion Fare. You’ll see your 25K Global Companion Awards and any other discounts / companion fare codes, along with their expiration dates. When you’re ready to redeem it, click the Use to Book button or copy the code beneath the award / discount.
Step 3: Search for the Award Flight
Clicking Use to Book automatically redirects you to the Alaska Airlines booking page and the discount code will automatically be filled in. Select either Round Trip or One Way, then enter your departure city, arrival city, date, 2 passengers, use points, and then click Search Flights.
Step 4: Select your Award Flight
After searching, Alaska Airlines displays a banner confirming “You have 25K points in Global Companion Award credit.” This confirms that the discount code was successfully applied. I selected the 10:04am departure and here were the prices:
- Traveler #1: 27,500 points + $5.60 in taxes
- Traveler #2: 2,500 points + $5.60 in taxes
Instead of charging another 27,500 points for the second traveler, Alaska Airlines automatically applied 25,000 points from my Global Companion Award, reducing my companion’s award ticket from 27,500 points to just 2,500 points. One thing to note is that any unused portion of the 25K Global Companion Award is forfeited. For example, if your companion’s ticket costs only 20,000 points, you won’t receive the remaining 5,000 points back.
Step 5: Review your Itinerary
After selecting the flight, Alaska Airlines summarizes your itinerary. For my itinerary, the total price dropped from 55,000 points to just 30,000 points + $11.20 in taxes.
Step 6: Verify the Discount
Once the itinerary is added to your cart, Alaska Airlines displays another confirmation message, “Good news: Your trip now requires 25K fewer points.” The price summary clearly breaks down the pricing:
- Primary Passenger: 27,500 points + $5.60 in taxes
- Companion Passenger: 2,500 points + $5.60 in taxes
- Total Price: 30,000 points + $11.20 in taxes
Without the 25K Global Companion Award, the same itinerary would have cost 27,500 points x 2 passengers = 55,000 points. This confirmation screen made me confident the 25K Global Companion Award had been applied correctly.
Step 7: Select your Passengers
From here, the booking process is exactly like any other Alaska Airlines award reservation. Select your primary passenger and companion passenger. Then click Continue.
Step 8: Select your Seats
Choose your seats and then click Continue.
Step 9: Review and Pay
Review your itinerary and pay for the trip. I was able to use my Alaska Airlines Wallet Funds to pay the $11.20 in taxes.
Step 10: Booking is Confirmed
Congratulations! Your award booking is complete and your confirmation email should arrive within a few minutes. Now it’s time to pack your bags.
Step 11: Redeemed Points Email
Shortly after making the booking, I received an email that said I redeemed points from my Alaska Airlines account.
Step 12: Confirm Points Deduction
After I received the above email, I went to the Points Activity page and saw the 2 transactions:
- 27,500 points redeemed for my ticket
- 2,500 points redeemed for my companion
Rather than deducting 55,000 points and issuing a 25,000 point rebate later, the system immediately reduced my companion’s ticket to 2,500 points.
Final Thoughts
Overall, redeeming the Alaska Airlines 25K Global Companion Award was surprisingly straightforward and easy. Once you click Use to Book from the Discounts / Companion Fare section, the discount code is automatically transferred to Alaska Airlines, and the award pricing adjusts automatically during the booking process. Since this was my first time using the 25K Global Companion Award, I was pleasantly surprised by how seamless the process was. Hopefully this walkthrough gives you the confidence to redeem your own award the next time you book an Alaska Airlines award flight.
In my example, 2 award tickets that normally would have cost 55,000 points only required 30,000 points, saving me 25,000 points that I can use toward a future award flight. The entire booking experience felt very polished, and I appreciated the multiple confirmation messages throughout the process that showed the 25K Global Companion Award had been applied correctly.
If you have had a chance to use your 25K Global Companion Award recently, I would love to know how the booking process was for you. If you have any questions about the booking process, please leave a comment below. Have a great day everyone!
P.S. One of my other favorite features of the Bank of America Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite Credit Card is the ability to transfer points between members for free (check out this guide for step-by-step instructions).

I thought you had fixed your site so that it would open the full rss feed in feedly? I’ve missed your last six months of posts because apparently something changed.
Good morning Tim, thank you for letting me know. Let me see if I can fix the RSS feed so you don’t miss any more posts. Have a great day.

Safe to assume you can’t use these on partner bookings such as an AA flight?
I think any award you can book on the Alaska Airlines website should work, even partner flights. If you have the 25K code, you can see if it will let you apply it toward a partner flight. Let me know what you find out. Thank you :)
I used the 25K on an AA flight. Nice discount!
Awesome, thank you for confirming that the 25K Global Companion Award can be used for AA awards.
