Random News: $25 Plink Winner, Shopkick Points Post, $95 Ink Bold Statement Credit, New IHG MasterCard Credit Card Bonus, and $100 Nationwide Checking Bonus
Here is a collection of interesting news from today…
First off, did you win any Plink Points today? Check your inbox for an email from Plink regarding their latest Amazon gift card giveaway…
Turns out that I won a $25 Amazon gift card (actually 2,500 Plink Points which I redeemed for an Amazon gift card). Here is the complete list of winners. Not familiar with Plink, check out this guide Introduction to Plink.
Next up, I got 581 Shopkick Kicks for a gift card purchase I made last month. Shopkick takes 30 days to post kicks for in-store purchases made with a credit card. Best day ever? Maybe.

Chase doesn’t waste any time. Quick off the heals of my retention call (please read Retention Bonus Results for a Chase Ink Bold MasterCard and an SPG American Express Credit Card), I received a $95 statement credit to offset my $95 annual fee on my Chase Ink Bold MasterCard. Thank you Chase!
Chase is reissuing the Chase IHG Rewards Club Credit Card as a MasterCard, replacing the Visa credit card. Read Friday Rundown: New IHG MasterCard for more info.
To promote the new MasterCard credit card, they will give you 1,000 IHG Rewards Club bonus points after your first purchase. Thanks again Chase!

And here is what the new IHG Rewards Club MasterCard Credit Card looks like…
I don’t normally talk about sign up bonuses for checking/savings accounts, but this is an exception. I got this offer in the mail today from Nationwide promoting their new Nationwide Bank E-Checking (online checking only). They are offering a $100 sign up bonus. Will (Doctor of Credit) did a guest post titled Bank Account Sign Up Bonuses on this subject a few weeks ago.
Here is the comparison between the Nationwide Bank E-Checking and a Citi and Chase checking account. I like the interest earned on checking balance, but 0.6% on a $10,000 balance only earns $60 over the year, equivalent to $5 per month. The 6 out of network ATM withdrawals is a nice feature too.
Here is the sign up link, use promo code 06104461 to enroll in the offer.
Make sure you clearly understand the terms of the offer before signing up. This is my plan:
- To avoid the $8 monthly fee, have Serve or Bluebird do a $200 “direct deposit” (transfer $200 from BB or Serve to the checking account) into your Nationwide checking account.
- Use you free Nationwide debit card to load your Bluebird or Serve account 8 times per month (you can do small transactions like $20 if you want).
- Checking account must be opened for at least 6 months to receive the $100 sign up bonus.

Glad to see I’ve got you on board the checking account bonuses, I haven’t seen that Nationwide checking bonus before – looks like a good one.
I thought you might like it. I signed up last night, I’ll see how it goes. If I have any questions for you, I’ll let you know. Thanks Will.
