Unboxing United Airlines MileagePlus Premier Silver Elite Status Envelope (Marriott Platinum Challenge)
I know this is going to end up on Travel Blogger Buzz (I’m more surprised when my stuff doesn’t show up there), but maybe this post will help someone.
Back on July 18, I wrote Marriott Platinum Challenge = United MileagePlus Premier Silver Status that showed how you could achieve United MileagePlus Premier Silver Status by calling Marriott and asking for a Marriott Platinum Challenge. The United Airlines status is valid from now until January 31, 2014. I just received the letter in the mail today (August 14) and here is my “unboxing” of the letter.

Did you go for the Marriott Platinum Challenge, did you get your United Premier Silver brochure in the mail yet? If you have any questions, please leave a comment below.
So, do you have to reapply in Feb 2014?
The Marriott platinum status will have expired before then. I have no plans on completing the Marriott Platinum Challenge, so I will fall back down to gold status in a month or so.
Go Grant!! I got my Premier Silver status via the Marriott Platinum challenge and I am enjoying both on my “free” trip to Kauai this week on United Airlines staying at the Kauai Courtyard Coconut Beach Resort. Points and Miles are the bomb!!
Nice job Brant. Great timing for you. Hopefully the weather is beautiful!
Grant, Received my Mileage Plus Silver Member packet today!!!! I am on my 3 stay of the Marriott Platinum Challenge as I enjoyed the Platinum benefits at the full service LAX marriott on Tuesday! Very Very Impressive to me. I have never even flown with United tho. How can this Silver status be put to best use? Thanks
You might be able to leverage your silver status by asking other airlines to match your status level. I’ve never done this so I’m not sure how exactly it works.
