What’s on my Mind? CES in Las Vegas, Napa Valley, San Francisco, ABC Gift Cards, 2 Free Movie Screenings, SWA Customer Service, Club Carlson Forex Fees, Citi Dividend, and Staples Easy Rebate Headaches
Good evening everyone! Sorry I have been so quite over the last few days. I’ve been unbelievably busy with CES, SF, and Ebay. Here is what is on my mind right now:
1 – Cool things at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) at the Las Vegas Convention Center
Cool iRoad from Toyota:
Cool Audi laser show:
Singapore Airlines in the Panasonic Avionics booth (lovely flight attendants too):
2 – Hanging with cousins in Napa Valley, Walnut Creek, and San Francisco
$42 sushi boat, all aboard!
Delicious apple and caramel crepe, yum yum yum.
3 – Sold 2 $25 iTunes Gift Cards for Amazon Gift Card Credit
I used ABC gift cards for the first time and the transaction was incredibly easy. I turned $50 in iTunes (worth about $5 to me) into $33.80 in Amazon gift card credit:
7 days later I had an email with my $33.80 in Amazon gift card credit. If you live closer to New Jersey than CA, you will probably receive your payment even faster. I have a large gift card order ($970) with CardPool processing and I should get that check any day now.
4 – 2 Free Movie Screenings from The Screening Exchange
Learn more about The Screening Exchange here. Cuban Fury trailer.
The Letters trailer. Looks really strange, so I am passing on this freebie.
5 – Southwest Airlines Customer Service is Awesome!
Something happened with my flight home yesterday and they cancelled my super cheap flight of 2,580 SWA points and charged me the Anytime fare (which I would never pay) of 20,400 SWA points. I checked on Get Human and found the direct number to Rapid Reward customer service. If you get a busy signal, just hang up and call right back. Took about 5 tries to get through and then another 10 minutes on hold.
In the end, the lovely customer service rep (Tiffany) was able to explain what happened and credited the difference back to me (17,820 SWA points). A few minutes on hold was worth it.
6 – US Bank Club Carlson Credit Card Charges Foreign Transaction Fees
Maybe it is just me, but a hotel travel credit card with a $75 annual fee shouldn’t charge foreign transaction fees. It is just wrong!
7 – My Citi Dividend Credit Card is Coming! Finally!
If you remember back to mid November, during my app-o-rama, I called Citi and had them convert my Citi AA Amex credit card to a Citi Dividend credit card (post). Fast forward 2+ months and Citi is finally sending me this card. Maybe I will even get it this week, fingers crossed. With this card, I can Make $252 in January with your Citi Dividend Platinum Select Credit Card.
8 – Coming up soon: Staples Easy Rebate Headaches
I will share my struggle of trying to get 3 $45 Visa gift cards for purchasing 3 copies of Kaspersky Internet Security 2014. Here is the original deal details. Hint: 15+ twitter private messages and 3 $45 Staples coupons to make it work.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment below. P.S. I will be in Europe this weekend for the next 2 weeks, so I will try my best to blog while away from home.
Great update Grant, glad to see your back online.
I will coin the term back-blogged to describe the lack of time to write articles.
back blogged…I like it! thats my problem right now lol. Also I got an email from Staples saying my check is on its way so no problems with my rebate!
I’ve had so many problems with my Staples Easy Rebate that I might stop buying them. It’s not worth the points when you can get them so easily.
