(Hotel Review) Radisson Blu Amsterdam (50,000 Club Carlson Points/Night)
Good morning/evening (whatever time zone you are in) from Amsterdam! After a smooth US Airways flight from Philadelphia to Amsterdam, custom/immigration was a breeze. Apparently everyone who sees two 24-year-olds travel together asks if we are on our honeymoon. If it leads to free room upgrades or bottles of champagne, I won’t complain.
Anyways, from Amsterdam Airport, Google Maps said it would take about 30 minutes to get to our hotel. That would be true if we didn’t get lost for a few minutes, but it is really a pretty (short) walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station.
After a few right turns, left turns, and u-turns, we made it to the Radisson Blu Amsterdam!
In the lobby there is a huge wooden boat, which is a good sign this is gunna be a cool hotel.
Unfortunately, we got their a little early and our room wasn’t ready so we walked around and found a bite to eat and a few Heinekens to drink.
Back at the hotel, we were able to check in and the total stay was paid for by 50,000 Club Carlson Points. Unfortunately, free rooms do not come with breakfast, but does come with WiFi.
A stay that night would have cost $247
Here are some pics of the room:
The best part of the room had to be the 1 foot deep “walk out” balcony and view.
Overall the hotel was very nice, had a very friendly front desk and concierge, and held our bags before and after we checked in and out.
However, if I were staying one more night in Amsterdam, I would probably stay at the Hyatt Andaz Prinsengracht since they have free breakfast, free bike rentals, closer to the restaurants, and you can’t beat this canal view:
I am currently staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Berlin, so don’t expect a hotel review, but for 25 Euros, I can’t complain. If you have any questions, please leave a comment below.
How was the weather in Amsterdam? I will be there in 3 weeks.
Gary
Very nice for the 3 days I was there. Mid 40s during the day and maybe high 30s at night. Slight rain and occasionally cold breezes. Pretty good weather considering it was winter.
I’m headed over in April to France and then Amsterdam. Free breakfast is with Diamond membership only correct? I’m planning on doing the challenge since i’ll also be staying at the Vendome on that trip but just curious.
I stayed 2 nights at the Vendome last January and get free breakfast and an upgraded room. Andaz in Amsterdam did the same thing. I’m Hyatt Platinum from only have the Hyatt credit card, but the Diamond Challenge could work out well in those 2 properties.
