Calling Chase Sapphire Preferred Customer Service about Chase Ritz-Carlton Credit Card Sunday Delivery

Good Sunday afternoon everyone, I just found out that my Chase Ritz-Carlton Credit Card is scheduled for delivery today via UPS Next Day Air.  I am so excited!  Here is how I found out…

My Chase online account does not show any new Chase credit cards.  I’ve checked several times since I was approved on Monday afternoon (link), but still the card has not shown up online.  One of my favorite tricks for Chase customer service is to call the Chase Sapphire Preferred department (800-493-3319).  I used to have a Chase Sapphire Preferred which I downgraded to a Chase Sapphire which I then converted to a Chase Freedom.  Anyway, if you call that number, they will answer in 10-20 seconds and be able to help you with any Chase account questions.

I called that number this morning and asked if they had any information regarding my Chase Ritz-Carlton Credit Card.  The very nice representative said that there were 2 UPS tracking numbers in the notes section linked to the Chase Ritz-Carlton Credit Card.  She said the 2 packages were sent out on Friday, December 19.  I plugged both tracking numbers into the UPS website and was able to see the tracking information.

According to UPS’s website, both packages are scheduled for early delivery today (ahead of tomorrow’s original scheduled delivery date).  I am writing this post and eagerly waiting for the UPS driver to knock on the front door.  Instead of Santa Claus bringing me presents, I have the UPS driver bringing me packages :)

Several readers who have already received the Chase Ritz-Carlton Credit Card have said that their Marriott account was upgraded to Gold Elite Status.  I am still waiting for that to happen to my account.  I still have Marriott Silver Elite Status from the Chase Marriott Credit Card.  I am not sure if my Marriott account will be upgraded automatically or if I need to call Chase to request the upgraded status.  There may be a future blog post about this…

In other news, Chime’s deal of the day is for Macy’s; spend $50 at Macy’s or macys.com and get a $5 cash back credit.  I sound like a broken Christmas record, but if you are new to Chime, please read this post.

My Marriott Gold just appeared with the Ritz Carlton card, my husband is a lifetime Platinum so it has no value but it is nice to have the extra points.

Not originally, but I called back and told them to change it from a Ritz-Carlton account to my Marriott account. I hope Chase was able to change the account info on the card.

Still looking for a Ritz cc offer that waives the annual fee first year. I gave their phone rep (several reps, actually, multiple calls) a code to supposedly do this, but they said that offer had expired. Oh well — one more try tomorrow — call their Ritz CS # and “beg” for a deal. Otherwise, I’m contemplating biting the bullet and offsetting some of that AF with some of the $300 in airline credits.

I’m sure the 70k no annual fee Ritz-Carlton offer will come back in a few weeks/months. If you can’t wait until then, you might want to apply for the 140k + $395 annual fee card now so that you can get the $300 airline reimbursement within the next 10 days, then again in 2015, and then in early 2016 before the annual fee posts again.

Grant, already got my card a couple of days ago and did the do on it. 2700 VGC’s and 300 SWA GC. Sent secure msg. about SWA GC, but it’s the weekend, so I’ll let you know tomorrow.

I am only guessing, but I’d say the 2 UPS pkgs you are getting means your card was delayed to change the number when you called about going Marriott instead of RC. I only got one package and much to my surprise the card came pre-activated. Nothing to do by spend!

Thank you Brant, are you sure the $300 in SWA GCs (physical or e-gift cards?) will count toward the $3,000 minimum spend? I plan on taking my Ritz-Carlton credit card to Target and loading up my Redbird Card. It will be a fund trip :)

I am not sure what will count towards the $3K spend, but I will find out after I see that I get the reimbursement for the SWA GC. If I need to do another VGC, so be it.

Side note, I will complete the spend on two 50K bonus Chase SWA CC’s on January 1 as well. I set my statement close date to the 2nd of each month so I should be a companion pass holder by mid January 2015!! Oh what a feeling!

Second card might be your lounge club card, but those typically come 7 days or so after your RC card. The reason why they don’t expedite when you ask over the phone is because the RC cards are automatically expedited, it just takes a couple of days for them to set up your account.

Grant, do you know , if you book a vacation package, do you need to have exact dates and locations in mind? Or do you just get a certificate for the hotel stay. Trying to decide between having my wife sign up for the SW credit cards to get companion pass or have her sign up for her own ritz Carlton card and back door the companion pass through the vacation package. I was already approved for the RC card which will be here tomorrow. I doubt chase would give her both cards at the same time.

Supposedly you can pool Marriott/Ritz-Carlton points to get the necessary point balance to take advantage of the travel packages. I believe you don’t need to book your hotel right away, you have all year to decide. Double check with Marriott before you do anything.

Hi Grant, I am curious why are there 2 tracking numbers? Do they send you 2 cards, one is for the Ritz and the other is for Gold membership card?
Also, can I do a direct load from this Ritz credit card to Serve to meet the $3000 minimum spending on this card? if so, would it be count as cash advance fee?

I received 2 packages because I requested 2 additional user cards (Mom and Dad). Chase could not fit 3 cards in 1 box, so they had to split up the shipment. You can use any Chase credit card to load your Serve Card online, you won’t be charged a cash advance fee.

Grant, have you seen the FT thread on this lately? It looks like lots of people are saying that Chase is mistakenly giving only 2 free RC nights instead of the 140,000 points we all signed up for. You should confirm with chase that you’re indeed getting the 140,000 points instead of two certificates since it sounds like their marketing department screwed this up. I’m sure they’ll honor it – especially if you have a screen shot of the offer – or the public link still available, but it’s unsettling that they would tell us 140k and instead give us 2 nights.

Yeah, I think they just screwed up. I’m sure with a call and evidence that the link is out there, they’ll fix it, but it stinks that everyone is getting misled.

BTW, did they respond about the SW gift cards yet? Did you have to tell them what the charge was for, or did you just ask them to reimburse it without addressing the cause of the charge? Just got my card, and wife should get her’s today or tomorrow, so I want to bang out the credits real quick.

FYI everyone, just spoke to a CSR at JP Morgan/ Chase who informed me that the offer is for “the equivalent of 2 nights stay at any tier 1-4 RC properly”. I asked her to clarify 100% that I’m getting the 140k point offer, and she said yes. It’s just that 70,000 points is the equivalent of 1 night. So if anyone’s worried about getting the offer, we should be good.

I just received a SM from Chase regarding my $150 SWA eGC:

          Dear Grant Thomas,

Thank you for contacting J.P. Morgan about the travel credit benefit offered on The Ritz-Carlton Rewards® credit card ending in ####. We have issued a $150 statement credit to your account as requested.

          Here’s what will happen next:
You will see the $150 statement credit posted on your January 4, 2015 billing statement. You have $150 of $300 remaining for the Airline Incidentals credit benefit for the 2014 calendar year.

Thank you again for choosing The Ritz-Carlton Rewards credit card from J.P. Morgan. If you have any further questions, please reply using the Secure Message Center.

          Thank you,

I see, by the way what is your plan to maximize the leftover of $150 benefit before the end of this year which is in 2 days? or will you just stop at $150.

I see, and will you tell them that you had to check 2 overweight suitcases again? wondering if same reason will work twice.
And do you know that if you go to your chase online account, on your Ritz card account’s transaction details, you can click on the “plus” sign to expand the details of the transaction of your eGC, it says “Online, Mail, or Telephone transaction”….I was surprised to see this and wonder if it will cause an issue to convince the Chase rep to reimburse the fee since overweight suitcases charges mostly charged on the spot of check in counter in airport.

I am getting my card Today, Do they reimbursed on pending transaction, because I think if I charge today it won’t post until 1st Jan and that might be too late to get reimbursed for 2014.

Received reimbursement for $202 for a Southwest GC today which completed the full $300 reimbursement for 2014. Have flights in Jan. & March, for the 2015 credit. All in all it was a quick turnover since I applied for the card on 12/15/14. I’m in no rush to make the spend since I’ll be holding the points until 2016 when my companion pass w/ Southwest expires. I’ll do the hotel/airline package w/ 120k miles to get the SW companion pass again for two years.

Yes, kind of. Since the charge was still pending, they were not able to reimburse the charge. I will try again tonight/tomorrow when the charge posts.

They never replied my SM, its been more than 40 hrs now. Transaction posted and called CSR they refunded me. But the first agent whanted me to hold while he confirm from Airline, about what was the purchase for. Well seems like they are catching up, on FT people with SW GC are not getting refund anymore, YMMV

          2. Grant

Yikes, I just sent a SM a few minutes ago asking for my refund. We will see what happens… Thanks for the heads up and have a great New Years!

I am expecting the same thing and like you were, I am very excited. I have signed up for this program ups offers, the program is called “ups my choice” I signed up with this offer a few months ago and I have enjoyed it so far because it notifies me whenever i have anything coming via ups. I don’t see anything coming though for the near future…I am worried and wondering maybe they don’t use ups anymore?
can you tell me what the tracking numbers were for you packages just so i know what to look out for?
I noticed you covered them in your posts picture…I wasn’t sure why?

    Anything helps!
    Cheers!

I’m not sure what Chase uses. I’m sure they use UPS or FedEx depending on where you live and what service is cheaper. I covered up the information to protect my identity and address. I hope you get your new Chase card soon. Have a great weekend.
