Random News Part 3: Club Carlson 40,000 Anniversary Points, Discover It Cash Back, and American Express Platinum Travel Credit
Good evening everyone, here is part 3 of my Random News (part 1 and part 2). Two months ago, I received the following email from US Bank regarding my Club Carlson Personal Credit Card. After waiting two months, I am glad to report that my 40,000 bonus Club Carlson points have posted to my Club Carlson account.
My statement closed last night and the 40,000 bonus points show up on my statement.
The 40,000 bonus points were deposited immediately into my Club Carlson account and are ready to be spent.
In other words, Discover is changing their rewards program. But these changes are almost entirely good news for consumers. Reward dollars do not expire and you can now redeem Discover cash back for any dollar amount of statement credit or bank deposit. Discover is going to discontinue issuing Discover gift cards starting April 1. Just get a statement credit instead.
From your Discover account, you can request any dollar amount of cash back in the form of a statement credit to your Discover credit card.
If you want to do a bank deposit, you will need to call Discover (1-800-DISCOVER) and speak with a representative who will process your bank deposit.
Last but not least, I was able to get a $100 Southwest Airlines eGift Card reimbursed by using my American Express Platinum Credit Card (2015 travel credit for Platinum cardholders). I did not receive a notification on my phone or email from American Express when I purchased the $100 Southwest Airlines eGift Card. A few days after the transaction posted, I received the $100 statement credit automatically. I already bought my second $100 Southwest Airlines eGift Card and I hope the statement credit posts as smoothly as the last.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment below. Have a great day everyone!
Discover didn’t ask me to call in to redeem by direct deposit. Maybe the bank with which you make payments doesn’t support online transfers? I use Chase for my payments and I was able to redeem online.
Thanks for the update though! I had been meaning to redeem for a while.
I use a small credit union, so that might explain why it doesn’t work for me. Glad you were able to cash in your cash back.
