How to Order Physical Sinemia Card ($14.99 Fee)

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you had a great weekend.  Yesterday, I wrote Sinemia App Update: View Number of Tickets Used, Plan Start Date & Next Billing Date.  I am not sure if I missed this feature yesterday or if Sinemia made this feature live shortly after my post went live, but you can now order your physical Sinemia card.  By using the physical Sinemia card, you should avoid paying the $1.80 online processing fees, but the physical card does cost $14.99.  To order your physical card, log into your Sinemia account online, go to the Membership page, scroll down and click the blue Order Physical Card button.

It’s unfortunate that the card costs $14.99, but if that eliminates the $1.80 online processing fee, you will break even using the physical card 9 times.  Enter your shipping address and click the Last Step button.  It is strange that Sinemia asks you to enter your shipping address since the address should be on file.

Then select a credit card to use and click the Complete Payment button.  I wish Sinemia would let you use your Sinemia credit from referrals, but that is not possible.  After paying for your physical Sinemia card, you should see the success message.  Your physical Sinemia card should arrive within 2 weeks.  Until then, you can continue to use Sinemia Cardless to purchase movie tickets online, but you will incur the $1.80 online processing fee for each online ticket.

I recommend ordering your physical Sinemia card as soon as possible, since I am sure the turnaround time will get longer and longer as more and more members request their physical Sinemia card.  The mail system will also start slowing down as the holiday season continues since there will be more holiday cards and gifts in the mail system.  If you have any questions regarding how to order your physical Sinemia card, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day everyone!

P.S. If you are interested in joining Sinemia, please click here.

I really really wish these folks would get their act together, Grant. We purchased Sinemia in July but have had all kinds of problems when ordering, losing tickets because their system is messed up and then having zero customer service on the back end to help when these various problems come up. We keep hoping they will improve since we paid for a year in advance. For now, we’ve just learned to roll with it. But they want $30!! for that physical card, since my husband and I have the “family” plan. We only need one card since we always go together, but because our plan includes two people, they would double charge us. No thank you. We’re still saving a bit of money even with fees, when we can get it to work but will not renew in 2019. They need to do far better than this in the customer service department.

I totally agree. There are things I love about Sinemia and things I hate about Sinemia. I got burned by MoviePass, so I am on the month by month plan, so I’m not committed to a yearlong contract. These movie subscription services change too often for my liking, but as long as I can still get some savings from movie tickets, it’s worth it to me to stay.

Sinemia has said they are working on improving their customer service, but I haven’t noticed any changes yet.

Me either… but I still have hope.;-) Thank you for bringing the little changes they’ve made so far, to our attention. I would have considered $14.99 but not twice. Have a great week!

You’re welcome, happy to keep providing updates on Sinemia as I see them. Let me know if you see anything new that I haven’t covered yet on the blog :)

I’v had the same problems. I’m at the movies, and the month wasn’t reset. Had to buy my tickets. When I signed up, there was a one time sign up fee, which ended up to be much more than what was advertised.
The “convenience fee” that you pay for the cardless is way too much.
I’ve been sending emails to them when I have a problem, and I’m lucky if I get a response in two weeks.
My breaking point is they just informed me I can avoid the convenience charges if I get a card, which will be almost 75.00, as I have a family plan.
Fortunately, I’m on a month to month. This is my last month with them.

AS of February 2019, they want $49.99 for each member of the family plan that wants the charge card. That is $99.98 for two people in a family plan using the card. That type of increase is absurd This company is just as flakey as Movie Pass minus customer service resolution.
After all, it is based in Istanbul, a major business hub in the Middle East, and the fact that it is in Turkey is not encouraging. Turkey is still emerging from the developing world on the path of becoming a modern country. Do not expect consumer rights and customer service when you have a leader like Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as the president. He is really very indicative of the way they do business with the western countries. We are really not on the same plane, and have never been. BE AWARE !

Yeah I just saw 30 dollars I started service for a year in April but will not be renewing. Like MoviePass they wont survive. 0 customer service and if you use the App for advance purchase and even check in they’ll claim you didn’t and charge you back full amount but still use up your ticket for the month. If I could I’d advise everyone stay away.

The concept for these movie subscription services is awesome, but the execution and customer service is far from perfect. I love movies so I put up with this nonsense. I’m not sure how much longer my patience will last.

I agree w/ all these comment. The idea of Sinemia is great….the reality this company and service SUCKS. I honestly thought, really how bad could it be, we talking about buying movie tickets.
I did not realize the $1.80 processing fee per movie, the varying service fee per theater/per ticket, (you end up paying almost $4 per ticket every movie) . their app that is unrealible at best, Its worked successfully 1 out of 4 times. I paid the extra $15 for the card….tomorrow it will be 4 weeks and it still has not arrived.

The process of getting a ticket is tedious at best. 1) open Sinemia app to “plan & select movie ”2) open the movie theater app 3) select movie/time. 4) go back to cinema app get the payment information 5) go back to movie theater app pay for movie. 6) Email movie receipt 7) When you’re at the theater open emai to show receipt, 8) go back to Sinemia app, 9) select the check in button. God for bid if you forget to do that or you are not only paying all the extra fees you’re also paying full price for your movie. Sinemia charges for a full movie is you forget to check in.

And customer service?! What a joke. No phone number only email. I sent an email everyday for 18 days before I got a response….and it didn’t even address my issue. Worst company, worst decision I ever made. If you are on the fence, don’t do it t. Avoid at all costs….It’s a complete waste of $$, time, and sanity.

I share a lot of your frustrations. I’m not sure why Sinemia and MoviePass cannot create a reliable app, create a simple process, and charge fair prices for their service.

That is crazy! I just got my physical Sinemia card, I will check out the in-theater purchasing and see if I get charged the same fee.

I’m with Jack, I got charged for both fees too and I have the physical card. Emailed sinemia and am waiting for a response. Fyi, I ordered my card the first opportunity they gave me, and it took almost 8 weeks. That should give you a timeline of when yours will come. Hopefully by then they fix the fees. I love movie like grant, but will jump ship on sinemia and join AMC A-list.

I got my physical Sinemia card a few days before my new monthly billing cycle and right before leaving for an international trip, so I haven’t had time to activate the card and use the card in person. Hopefully I can do both things next week. I will report back on any fees charges.

I received mine last week, and tried to use the physical card for advance purchase and was charged for convenience and processing fees. Emailed sinemia, and am waiting for a response from them

I ordered my physical card December 1, 2018, and still have not received it (48 days later). The theater I use requires me to do an advance purchase through Movietickets.com, so my processing fee is $3.30 per movie. Whole reason to order card is to avoid both (or at least one) of these fees!

Will update when/if I ever get card.

I have recently started using Sinemia. Pain in the ass. And noticed that for each movie, you’re actually being charged additionally $3.3 – 1.8 online fee and 1.5 some other fee. Also noticed every trial from their app (due to the lame app design and performance) your credit card is authorized with a pending charge. I do have to closely monitor whether they drop eventually. So be on the watchout.

After getting prompt for $7 ish processing fee (4 tickets) , and the message “to avoid fee use physical card” , I thought twice and ordered the card costed me $60 , not sure why the price is cheaper for others. Now I got my card in a week, but the processing fee doesnt go away…it still prompts me for fee and it gets declined if I buy from Cinemark app using this physical card. I am buying temporarily in theater. but what a pain, I cannot buy for advance tickets using the physical card. Here its how… In the app you have to say you are buying a ticket, and the date will be for current day by default no way to change . so you are locked in for buying current day , then it gets activated to allow in theater purchase. Overall its getting into a complete scam path.
Their discounted gift cards payment gateway always errors and their payment method to buy $60 card was just fine…go figure…I am trapped here…no Customer support…what a miserable choice…anyone to file lawsuits for this scammers.

    Hi,

If I use Physical Card to purchase ticket for the same day, will it charge me convenience/processing fee? Also, If I use the card to purchase ticket at theatre, will I be charged those fees?

    Thanks,

I have only used my physical Sinemia card once and I was not charged a convenience/processing fee. I think the only thing to be aware of is that you need to purchase your movie ticket before the movie showtime starts.

If you purchase online with your digital Sinemia card, you will probably be charged a service fee. But if you purchase at the theater using the physical Sinemia card, you should not be charged a service fee.

I ordered the physical cards for myself & my daughter last month for $14.99. When we tried to order for my son the price showed $24.99. I have emailed them 4 times with no response. If I could find a number to call, I would. I am very frustrated with the poor service, this is not what I signed up for originally.

Sinemia has really unhelpful customer service. Keep trying to get through. I wonder why they raised the price of the physical Sinemia card.

Dang, that is really steep. I would probably pass on the physical Sinemia card and just purchase tickets online. What are you going to do?

Can you use the physical cards to buy advance tickets online (and avoid the processing fee) or are you only allowed to use it to buy tickets at the ticket counter at the theater?
