Your Priority Pass App Experience Varies by Membership (Restaurants Shown or Hidden in Search Results)

Good morning everyone, I hope your weekend is going well.  A few days ago, I wrote How to Count / See your Priority Pass Restaurant & Non-Lounge Visits.  In that post, I showed how Priority Pass worked on the desktop browser to count your Priority Pass restaurant visits.  I then received an interesting comment from David C that said:

“I find the Priority Pass iOS app shows very clear counts for my ‘Visits Remaining’, ‘Visits Used’, and ‘Visits Pending’ on the ‘Account’ tab. It’s interesting that the web interface is different, and they make you have to do the math.”

I hadn’t explored the Priority Pass app in much detail, but thanks to David’s comment, I learned a few interesting things, which I will share in this post.

Priority Pass Membership from US Bank Altitude Reserve Credit Card

As a reminder, the Priority Pass membership that comes with the US Bank Altitude Reserve Credit Card comes with 8 restaurant and non-lounge visits per year.  On the Card tab, I see that my membership is only valid for 1 year.  That helps me plan my Priority Pass visits throughout the year.

On the Account tab, I can see My Entitlement shows 6 Visits Remaining and 2 Visits Used.  It’s important to know because it says “visits over your lounge entitlement are charged at 35 USD.”  At Priority Pass restaurants, you get up to $28 per visit, so you will lose money whenever you exceed your entitlement visit number.  Strangely, when I clicked on Visit History, it does not show my recent Bambuza visit at a Priority Pass restaurant in Seattle on August 2.  On the website, I can see my visit history clearly.  Hopefully Priority Pass will fix this issue in a future app update.

Lastly, if you have Priority Pass restaurant access, you will see restaurants listed on the Explore tab.  For example, here is the Bambuza restaurant I visited in Seattle in the North Satellite terminal.

Priority Pass Membership from JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton Credit Card

By comparison, the Priority Pass membership that comes with the JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton Credit Card offers unlimited lounge visits for you and your guests, but it does not include Priority Pass restaurants and non-lounge visits.  On the Card tab, my Priority Pass membership is valid for 3 years, instead of the 1 year listed above.

On the Account tab, it does not show any visit counts or visit history.  Lastly, when I search for the Bambuza restaurant on the Explore tab, it does not appear in the search results because all Priority Pass restaurants and non-lounges are hidden for this membership.

Here are the main points from this post and some helpful tips:

  • If you have a Priority Pass membership that comes with restaurants and non-lounge visits, make sure you use that account to sign into your Priority Pass app so you can see those options in the search results.
  • You will also want to keep track of the number of visits you have remaining and when your membership renews so you do not exceed your limit and get charged $35 per visit.
  • If you have another Priority Pass membership that includes unlimited lounge visits, you will want to make sure to use that Priority Pass membership at lounges and not “waste” a visit on one of your Priority Pass memberships that includes restaurants and non-lounges.
  • To stay organized, I write on the back of each Priority Pass card “JPM” for JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton, “USB AR” for US Bank Altitude Reserve, and “VX” for Capital One Venture X to ensure I use the correct Priority Pass card at the correct location.
  • Additionally, you may need to call your credit card company and request that they enroll you in Priority Pass since it is not automatic for all credit cards.
  • Lastly, some Priority Pass memberships only offer “digital cards” not a physical card, so you will have to sign into the Priority Pass app to use that membership.  That was the case with my US Bank Business Altitude Connect Credit Card.

If you have any questions about Priority Pass memberships or with using the Priority Pass app or website, please leave a comment below.  Have a great weekend everyone!
