During my weekend in Seattle for FTU Seattle, I had the pleasure to try Uber 4 different times (within 24 hours).  For those unfamiliar with Uber, it is an on-demand taxi service, meaning you can request a taxi ride whenever and wherever (Uber is supported).  You need a smartphone and the Uber app needs to be installed.  Once you load the Uber app, it finds your current location and shows you all drivers nearby.  When you are ready to be picked up, just set your pick up location and the nearest available Uber driver will come pick you up.  The Uber app shows you where the car is and who the driver is along with the make of the car and their license plate.

Barclays Sign Up Offers: $400 Barclaycard Arrival, 50,000 Lufthansa Miles, 35,000 Hawaiian Airlines Miles, and 40,000 US Airways Miles

Which Credit Card

Barclays Sign Up Offers: $400 Barclaycard Arrival, 50,000 Lufthansa Miles, 35,000 Hawaiian Airlines Miles, and 40,000 US Airways Miles

Full Disclosure: I don’t personally have any Barclays credit cards.  I have applied for some credit cards in the past but have always been denied due to “too many recent credit inquires” – so it is not by choice (not my choice at least) that I do not have credit cards with Barclays.

It might be hard to believe, but I actually have credit card affiliate links (only from Barclays Bank though).  I hardly ever talk about credit card sign up bonuses, unless I am specifically applying for them during an app-o-rama (see March 2014 App-O-Rama and November 2013 App-O-Rama).

You can view and apply for a Barclays Credit Card on my credit card page.  With that said, here are some of the my favorite Barclays Credit Cards:

Barclaycard Arrival – 40,000 points ($400 Statement Credit) after spending $3,000 in 3 months (no annual fee the first year, then $89 a year after that)

Guest Post from Doctor of Credit: Four Frequent Flyer Programs You Probably Haven’t Heard Of

Most people are familiar with all of the regular frequent flyer programs, you can earn miles from flying, credit card spend or by shopping using their online portal. What most people don’t know is that a lot of major airlines also have business frequent flyer programs which can be used in conjunction with personal frequent flyer programs, meaning you can double dip and earn points twice.

These miles are earned in a separate program and cannot be used in conjunction with your personal miles. Most people will automatically think they aren’t eligible as they don’t have a business. This is technically true, but most people will find that they can also have a business with a little bit of thought. Your employees might just be family members that help you out with your thriving eBay or Amazon business – allowing you to not only get business miles on your flights but also on family members who fly regularly!

There are four airlines that have publicized business frequent flyer programs. The are listed below along with a little bit of information on each program.

American Airlines Business ExtrAA (link)

Business Extra is free and available to all businesses that have two or more employees. You earn 2 Business ExtrAA miles per $10 spent. You can also ear miles by using AACargo.com for your shipping needs.  This might not sound like a lot, but it’s important to remember that Business ExtrAA miles are far more valuable than regular American Airlines miles.

To earn Business ExtrAA miles, you will need to include your Business ExtrAA number when you book a flight with American Airlines.  This can be saved to your AAdvantage account so you don’t need to remember it (particularly helpful when your employees are also friends & family).   Continue reading

6,000 British Airways Avios + $163 for Phily to Paris

Hey guys, I am flying home from Copenhagen today, so this is just a quick post before my flight leaves.  I was eating breakfast this morning and my friend said he needed a flight from Philadelphia to Paris in August.  I told him I would help him look for the perfect flight.  One way prices were going for around $650-$700 (he is going there for research, so he didn’t want to book a round trip ticket since he didn’t know when he would return).  I told him he could probably do better by using miles…

On ITA Matrix, I saw a few nonstop flights from PHL to CDG on American/US Airways, so I went to the American Airlines website and searched for nonstop flights.  I found 3 dates in August that would work for him and clicked on the August 25 date.
