March 11, 2014: Staples will be Removed from Plink

(Hat tip to Gary)  See the update post here.

All good things must end, unfortunately.  Luckily, there is still time to make 10 qualifying purchases at Staples before the March 11 deadline.  This is a huge letdown, since most of us earned 99% of our Plink Points from Staples.  On the positive side, maybe we will see Office Max or Office Depot?  That’s a long shot, but it could happen.

Plink Staples Ending 3.11.2014

Since starting with Plink, I have earned a lifetime total of 15,945 Plink Points = $159.45 in Amazon Gift Cards.  Pretty good deal, how many Plink Points do you have in your account? (Hint: go to the My Account tab and scroll all the way to the bottom)

PSA: Don’t Buy or Sell Gift Cards To/From Card Snagger

Card Snagger is living up (down?) to their name.  A few months ago, I had a bad experience buying from Card Snagger (link), where I wanted to buy my dad a Home Depot gift card for his birthday, but never heard anything from the company after more than a week.  I was one of the lucky ones who got a refund from the company, but my blog post has received a lot of attention recently from others who have bought or sold gift cards to/from Card Snagger.  If they had a hard time mailing a gift card to me, I would bet they would have an even harder time paying people for sending them gift cards.  Which is why i sent out the following tweet a few minutes ago.  If you have been burned by Card Snagger, please retweet so Gift Card Granny get’s the message and drops Card Snagger as a reputable gift card merchant.

Here is Gift Card Granny’s policy on their gift card merchants (link):

GCG Legit

I would recommend dealing with CardPool (based in San Francisco) for buying and selling.  I am in the process of selling $1,250 of Bloomingdales gift cards (AMEX Deal) and will write up a detailed tutorial of how I sell gift cards online.  I am also in the process of a GiftCards.com online order, which I will report on next week.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment on the linked post.

New American Express Offers and Citi Thank You Point Redemptions

Good evening everyone!  I am still alive after my 16 mile hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back on Sunday.  My feet and legs are still killing me, but my hands and fingers are doing good enough to type this blog post.  I promise I will get a trip report up soon with several pics of my time at Flagstaff Extreme Obstacle Course, Bedrock City, Bearizona Wildlife Park, and the Grand Canyon.

Anyways, here are some of the new (and exciting) American Express Offers For You.  As always, check all of your American Express cards, even the one’s you hardly use (I’m looking at you Delta Gold card).

How to Load PayPal My Cash Cards to your PayPal Account

These cards can be found at CVS, grocery stores, gas stations, and other stores.  They have a similar look and feel to the Vanilla Reload Cards, but these can only be loaded to your PayPal account.  They do have the same $3.95 activation fee per card.  Here is the front and back of the PayPal My Cash Card:

Here is a copy of my receipt showing the $3.95 fee.  I was able to use my credit card to pay for the purchase.

I don’t know about you, but my local CVS store(s) are getting a bit low on Valentine’s Day chocolate Vanilla Reload Cards.  Instead of walking out empty handed, take a look at the One Vanilla Gift Cards.

Here is my score from today (2/11/2014). 4 One Vanilla Cards, 2 Bluebird Cards (mine plus my dad’s) successfully loaded at Walmart.  4 swipes + 4 made up PINs = $2,000 on Bluebird.  The names and face gift card numbers and receipt info have been whited out to protect the innocent (possibly underage) One Vanilla cards.

Also, there will be scheduled maintenance on my blog (and probably several other WordPress blogs hosted on BlueHost) tomorrow night.

Dear Grant,

Tomorrow night, beginning between the hours of 8 PM – 4 AM MST, we will be performing a kernel update on your server. We estimate the outage to be approximately 15-30 minutes. During this time, your email, website and account will not be accessible. This updated kernel brings a number of significant enhancements in all aspects of the kernel, the integral part of which the rest of the Operating System relies upon.
