Hopefully this post does not confuse you. A few days ago, I posted pics of my SPG transfer from my Dad’s SPG account to my SPG account. I determined that it took 26-27 days for SPG to link both of our accounts to the same address and allow us to transfer SPG points between our accounts (ok, mostly from his account to my account, but I could send him SPG points if I wanted to).
After that “experiment” was complete, I wanted to see how long the second SPG transfer would take. Would it be instant, like most Chase transfers? (no), would it take a few hours? (no), how about a few days? (yes).
My dad did an SPG transfer on Wednesday at exactly 1PM and I have been checking my account (on Award Wallet, of course) every few hours. After 1 day went by, my enthusiasm and patient decreased. At about 4PM today (Friday), I refreshed my SPG account balance and saw the new points transfer.
There you have it folks, it takes about 2 days for family SPG points transfer to complete WHEN you have already linked your SPG accounts to the same address.
As with most non-instant point transfers, the day and time you initiate a transfer can and may make a difference. Therefore, depending on the day and time you click send, your SPG points may take more or less time than 2 days to deposit into another SPG member’s account.
