Redeem Plink Points for Gift Cards and Airline Miles
Previous Post: Adding Merchants to Plink
Now that you have linked your credit card and started shopping at the merchants in your Plink Wallet, you should start to see Plink Points being added to your account.
To redeem your Plink Points, click the Rewards tab.
As of today, here are the current gift cards you can redeem your Plink Points for:
Most gift cards can be redeemed in the following increments. I usually redeem my Plink Points every time my balance is large enough for a $5 gift card, but you can accumulate your Plink Points and redeem for larger gift cards.
If you redeem your Plink Points for an Amazon, Walmart, Kohl’s, iTunes, Facebook Credit, Regal Cinemas, Overstock, or Barnes & Noble gift card, you will receive an email with your gift card number and PIN. The email usually arrives within a minute.
If you redeem you Plink Points for a Tango gift card, you will receive credit towards gift cards on Tango’s website. This is a good idea if you want an electronic gift card other than the ones from Plink. Here is the list of gift cards you can redeem your Tango Gift Card credit for:
If you redeem your Plink Points for “Airline Miles,” you will receive this email from Plink:
Hello Grant,
I’m so glad you ordered airline miles with your Plink Points. It’s not very clear on the site how the airline miles work, so before I do anything – I just wanted to make sure you knew that you are spending the amount of points you thought you were. We are working on a way to better communicate this…but basically here’s the breakdown…
1,000 Plink Points = 240 airline miles/loyalty points
1,500 Plink Points = 360 airline miles/loyalty points
2,500 Plink Points = 600 airline miles/loyalty points
5,000 Plink Points = 1,200 airline miles/loyalty points
10,000 Plink Points = 2,400 airline miles/loyalty points
And the places you can get those airline miles or loyalty points are: American Airlines Advantage, Frontier Early Returns, US Airways Dividend Miles, and Best Buy Reward Zone.
Is that what you thought you were getting? If so, I’ll get your airline miles/loyalty points code, and send you and email with instructions on how to add those to whatever airline account you have on that list. If not, I’m happy to put the points back into your account so you can choose another reward.
Does that make sense? I just wanted to check with you first since I haven’t done this yet (and I don’t feel like it’s real clear what you’re getting on the site yet, either). Thanks!
In the above case, you can convert 1,000 Plink points into 240 airline miles or you can get a $10 gift card. In essence, you are buying airline miles at 4.17 cents per mile (not a very good price). I responded to his email and said I would prefer a gift card instead. Within minutes, he cancelled the airline redemption and credited the 1,000 Plink points back into my account. At that point, I cashed in my Plink points for a $10 Amazon gift card.

Hmm. You can buy Staples GCs thru Tango? That means you can convert Plink back into Visa GCs, via Tango and the Staples GCs. Might be worth considering.
I’ve been just redeeming for $5 Amazon credits.
Also worth mentioning that there is a 10 per 30 days limit on the Staples Plink offer. So us ‘Ink-ers’ can’t go overboard with this…. :)
I would stick with Amazon gift cards, buying Staples gift cards and Visa gift cards seems like a lot of work.
Also, I will update this post with a bigger warning about not going overboard with Staples.
Yeah, agree on the “too much work” and I don’t want plink hanging onto my rewards long enough to make it worthwhile.
Now if Plink would only add CVS we’d be in heaven!!! :)
I think tango would have CVS gift cards before Plink would. Have you bought a vanilla reload card with a CVS gift card?
Nope, but it’d be an interesting experiment. Wonder if you can buy CVS GC cards thru Amazon?
I would buy a $5 CVS gift card at CVS and see if you can use it to buy a VRC.
Does the list of merchants change periodically? If not, Plink will not work for me. Not only there are no merchants I would buy from on the list, but all the reward cards are “out of stock.” It seems like to earn I would have to start liking Dunkin Donuts and Burger King. No thanks!
Yes, the list of merchants rotates every so often. Nothing has changed over the last few weeks, I agree that the current batch of merchants is pretty lame. Also, Plink restocked the gift cards frequently. If you have 500+ Plink Points, hold on for a few days and check back. They will restock all the cards that say out of stock.
