App-O-Rama Update: American Express Platinum Mercedes Benz Charge Card Surprise Approval

Before my App-O-Rama, I had 4 American Express credit cards: Delta Gold, Hilton HHonors, SPG Personal, and Blue Cash Preferred.

From previous experience with American Express, I know that they only allow 4 credit cards per American Express account (but unlimited charge cards).  I was worried after I applied for the American Express Platinum Mercedes Benz Credit Card and this screen appeared after I submitted my application.

Luckily I received an email from American Express stating that my application had been received ad was currently being processed.

To check the current status of your American Express applications, click here.  My application is currently in progress.  I called the American Express reconsideration number and was told that my application had been sent a specific department and I would hear from them shortly.  The representative was not able to transfer credit from an existing American Express credit card, so i was out of luck.  I had to play the waiting game.

Almost 3 days later, I received this email from American Express.  I was approved!  If you apply for any high end (aka large annual fee) credit card, American Express usually sends your card via UPS Next Day Air, so I was looking forward to that package the following day.

I checked the application status website (link) and it also so I was approved.

The next day, I received the card and added it to my American Express account.  The card comes with a lot of perks, which I will cover in my next blog post.

My new American Express Platinum Mercedes Benz Charge Card is so pretty.
