Free Money Program Updates: Bluebird Reloads, Great Bridge Group, Plink Points, and Orbitz Rewards (& Free Checked Bags)

Tis the season for giving and all through the house internet browser, not a penny was wasted, not even a mouse (what rhymes with browser? schnauzer?).  All rhyming aside, these 4 free money opportunities are out there for you.  I’m sure you got your fix of Small Business Saturday $10 statement credits, $25 Amazon statement credits, and whatever else American Express offers are out there.  Here are some of the lesser known options:

1 – Earn up to 1.5% cash back on all Bluebird online reloads by using a PayPal Debit Card (not a PayPal Prepaid MasterCard).  In November, I earned $17.22 in cash back ($1,148 x 1.5% cash back = $17.22) – read here

PayPal Bluebird Cash Back

2 – Earn cash back from Great Bridge Group for providing “shopping data” to their marketing agency.  They pay 1/10th of 1%, so you earn 1 penny per $10 you charge… on everything.  You are going to spend money on your credit and debit cards, why not earn a little bit extra?  I get more cash back spending money than my brother gets saving his money in his Wells Fargo savings account.  So far I have earned $60.08.  How much have you earned? – read here

Great Bridge Group Update

3 – Earn Plink Points for Staples purchases.  If you don’t have a Plink account, you are missing out on free money.  For every $60 you spend at Staples (or Staples.com), you will earn 300 Plink Points worth $3.00 in gift cards (Amazon, Walmart, and many others).  My Plink account is linked to my Chase Ink Bold credit card and here are the rewards and redemptions from the last 2 days.  It appears that Plink only checks my Ink Bold account twice a week, so all my charges show up on the same day – read here

Plink Points Update

4 – Orbitz Rewards is a new reward program from the online travel agency Orbitz.  You will earn 1% cash back on all airline booked through Orbitz and 3% cash back on all hotel reservations booked through Orbitz (get an extra 2% cash back if you use their mobile app).  If you create a new Orbitz account, you get $25 in Orbucks (which is $25 off your next Orbitz hotel reservation of $50 or more) – read here

Orbitz Update

Get a free checked bag on every Orbitz airline reservation.  Here is how it works:

  1. Buy your airfare through Orbitz
  2. Pay for your checked bag at the airport
  3. Take a picture of the bag tag and upload it to the Orbitz app
  4. Orbitz will credit your Orbitz Rewards account $25
  5. Enjoy your vacation and buy a nice souvenir for your favorite blogger (hopefully me)

My Great Bridge group has been deactivated as of today. I just received an email from them. I am so sad. It was like a breakup letter! LOL

We would like to thank you for your participation in our panel. As part of our ongoing efforts to extend the benefits of the Great Bridge community to new users, from time to time we must create space in our limited panel by deactivating some of our existing accounts. Your account has been selected for deactivation.

All unpaid rewards that your account has earned as of today will be paid to you in full within the next five business days. After today your account will no longer remain active, and we will no longer collect transaction information associated with this account.

Did Staples re-stock the gift cards online yet? I was incredibly annoyed to hear about that issue from Frequent Miler’s Quick Deals. I hope it will still be possible to buy Visa gift cards through a cash back portal on Staples.com after Staples fixes the issue. Do you think it was risky for bloggers such as Chasing the Points and Frequent Miler to post about that deal in such explicit fashion?

Possibly, we will have to wait and see what Staples decides to do. They might not allow gift cards on Visa/MC gift card purchases in the future.
