$99 Amazon Prime starting March 20, $30 Office Depot Plink Cap, and a Small VRC Change

According to the Wall Street Journal (article), Amazon will raise the price of their Prime Membership from $79 to $99 starting March 20.  If your subscription renews after that date, you will be charged the new subscription price.  Luckily, Dan’s Deal has all the details here.  Dan shows you how you can “gift yourself” a year of Amazon Prime.  You can gift yourself another year of Amazon Prime here.

If you are new to Amazon Prime, you can try a 30 day free trial here.

I almost forgot to mention, you can take advantage of this trick to give Amazon Prime to family members for free here.

I don’t want to say that I warned you, but I warned you… Here is what the Office Depot Plink offer looked like on Day 1:

And here is what it looks like today (Day 3):

New Office Depot Plink Details

As you can see, Plink added a sentence stating that you can only receive 10 qualifying purchases in a 30 day period.  Since there is less than 30 days between now and April 10, you are essentially capped at the $30 level for Office Depot.  Who know’s what will happen to Plink after April 10.  Will Staples be back in?  What about Office Max?  What about nobody?  No one knows…

Also, it would be helpful if they had gift cards to redeem Plink Points for besides Barnes and Nobel and the Red Cross.  Don’t get me wrong, I like reading and helping charities, but where did all the Amazon and Walmart gift cards go?  Spring Break in Cabo or Cancun??

Now for news no one cares about but me, I started seeing these new Vanilla Reload Cards at my local CVS.  If you turn it over, it says 113v01, which I believe means November 2013 Version 1.

Why do you care?  You probably don’t, but it seems like these cards are thinner and made with less plastic and the PIN is not as easy to scratch off as the previous version: 0813v01 (August 2013 Version 1).  If you are curious, here is how the Vanilla Reload Card design has changed over the years (link).
