Last Day as a Featured Boarding Area Blogger and a Reader Poll
First off, I want to give thanks to Randy, Meagan, and the rest of the Boarding Area team for having me as the featured blogger of the week. It has been fun seeing my blog posts show up at the very top of the Boarding Area home page. It is a dream come true. When I started my blog on May 1, 2013, my dream was to join Boarding Area and blog side-by-side with the other blogging legends like Ben, Gary, Greg, Scott, Seth, Stefan, and all the other Boarding Area bloggers. Thank you Randy for believing in me and for inviting me to be a part of the Boarding Area / Prior2Boarding family.
Beginning tomorrow morning (October 8), my blog posts will only appear on the Boarding Area home page in the light green box called In Case You Missed It (ICYMI for short). You will still find me on the Prior2Boarding website along with the other fantastic bloggers who make up Prior2Boarding.
If you have enjoyed reading my blog posts over the last week, please consider signing up for my email subscription. You will receive an email as soon as I publish an article and you will never miss a single post, I promise! If you are not into email, you can like my Facebook Page or follow me on Twitter. Pintrest? Nope, not going to happen. Instagram? No way, I’m not cool enough for that either!
With all that said, I need your help. I have a few blog ideas that I want to write about, but I need your help in determining what to work on first, second, third … last. Please take a minute and choose the blog topics you are most interested in reading. I will do my best to get these topics from my brain onto the blog as soon as possible. Thank you for your help!
If you have any questions or other topics you would like me to blog about, please leave a comment below. Have a great day everyone!
It was fun seeing your blog featured, Grant. Congrats and keep up the great work!
Thanks for reading, Seth!
I learned a lot from your posts and my husband too appreciates your quick response to our inquiries.
Congratulations and more power to you!!!
Thank you, I’m glad you and your husband have learned a thing or two :)
Congratulations! Regarding FB and Twitter, how about Google+? Probably a much better interface for blogs and much cleaner for sure.
I have a Google Plus that I check twice a year, today being the second time this year: https://plus.google.com/+GrantThomasTravelwithGrant/posts
So you’ll review a city walking tour, donut shop, theme restaurant, and Coca Cola Land, before you’ll review THE GALAPAGOS?
Haha, ummm I’m a little backed up on my trip reports and reviews :)
Anyone else want to hear about my boring trip to the Galapagos?
Don’t worry Grant. I added prior2boarding on my Feedly (RSS feed) and pinning your blog as one of my perm-a-tabs. Great work this week and hope to see more great stuff in the future.
Thanks Mike, I’m glad I made a spot on your bookmarks tab :)
What type of posts have you enjoyed reading the most?
Great job! I don’t know if those guys are legends… yet… but only time will tell. ;) Wishing you the best on your blogging as you may very well be one of the legends too!
Thanks Joey, I keep trying! My motto for blogging: be the first and by the best. If I am not first, then I try to be the best. If I can’t be the first or the best, I won’t cover something. “First” and “best” are subjective/relative terms, but I hope you get what I am saying. Either way, legendary status here I come!
Congrats Grant. I really enjoy reading your blog. I still remember our conversation at FTU Seattle on Citi ThankYou points, credit card options, manufactured spend, and of course learning from other attendees including 1000pts per purchase in Aussie and LoungeBuddy app.
You have a great memory Paul, FTU Seattle seems so long ago, even though it was only in late April. Time sure flies by. I will be in Seattle this weekend as well, preparing for my Amtrak train ride down to SoCal. Are you going to any other travel conferences? I am going to several over the next few months :)
A blog report about maximizing Starbucks rewards would be great, for example you can buy Starbucks gift cards for 20% off
I have had pretty good luck buying Starbucks gift cards on Ebay. The best deals are on the largest gift cards. Bought a $400 Starbucks gift card for $300 once, that’s a 25% discount. Recently, I bought a few egift cards from Card Pool for 17% off. That was super easy.

Dear Grant, PLEASE start from the Beginning! Please research and give us as many OPTIONS as possible to make up for losing Vanilla Reloads and Vanilla One/BlueBird/WalMart. I am NOT clear on that. I am confused as to what ALL of my options are to pay my: Rent + Health Insurance + Utilities which equals $5000/month = 60,000 points per year that I do NOT want to lose—and I can NOT pay via Credit Card. For example, EVOLVE Money as of Sept 1st, NO longer allows more than 1 giftcard/debit card per payment. My Health Insurance is $1700/month. Since the maximum of a Gift Card/Debit Card is only $500—I can now only pay $500 toward the $1700/month I owe Blue Cross. So I need a NEW Alternative to EVOLVE Money. I want to apply for new Credit Cards before Xmas, but don’t know how to smartly pay my bills to get points—so I am hoping you can help! Many Thanks for your kind consideration!
The only thing I can think of for paying large bills would be with Bluebird or Serve. Go with Serve if you don’t need paper checks. Load $1,000/month with a credit card + $1,000/month with a debit card + $5,000/month with gift cards at Walmart. Don’t buy OVGCs, buy Metabank and US Bank gift cards from grocery stores or online at Gift Card Mall. That is my only suggestion. Good luck!

Congrats. I got 7-10 days message for applying capitalone venture, I don’t see a new card in my capital account. If I’m denied, what a waste of 3 hard pulls..
I always call right away to offset any denied requests. It’s best to be proactive, rather than reactive in these cases.
