Good morning everyone (again). I just saw on the Southwest Airlines homepage that their schedule is now open and bookable through June 1, 2018. Before now, you could only book flights through early April 2018. Now you can book trips for Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 13) and Memorial Day Weekend (Saturday, May 26 – Monday, May 28). Prices tend to be higher when the schedule loads, but you can always watch the price and rebook when the price goes down. Check out my post: PSA Reminder: Check Existing Southwest Airlines Reservations; I Rebooked & Saved $66.
If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, there is more good news. Southwest Airlines is adding a few more nonstop flights from San Francisco (SFO), Oakland (OAK), and San Jose (SJC). Most routes begin on April 8, 2018, with a few routes starting a few weeks earlier and later. If you want to lock in a good price on these new nonstop routes, you need to book by 8/31.
In addition to that news, Southwest Airlines has two simultaneous promos running now through 8/31: Pencil Us In and New Nonstop Destinations on Sale. Check out those links and see if there are any good routes from your home airport.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment below. Have a great day everyone and safe travels!
can’t comment on the rest but i’m surprised OAK-EWR is listed as a new flight considering i just flew Southwest on LAS-OAK-EWR back in June 2017.
The new route will be OAK-EWR nonstop. I checked for routes next year and the flight leaves OAK (8:00am) and lands in EWR (4:30pm). Going the opposite direction, the flight leaves EWR (5:10pm) and lands in OAK (8:25pm).
Happy that the calendar is opened up further, but very disappointed that they took away the Getaway Finder feature on their site. It was a great tool to look for vacations. It was also a great tool just to find out what possible destinations from my smaller airport even are. We can’t get to all destinations from our airport because we have to connect through STL and often the flights to other destinations leave before that flight gets in.
I used to be able to see this in a map view, but now I have to be frustrated by typing in destination after destination and being told that there are no flights. Bad move Southwest.
That is a bummer. You should leave that comment on their Facebook page, that way they can see your feedback.
