Some questions spark opinions. Which place has the best bagels, that’s the question. And everyone has an opinion. Who makes the best bagels is almost as much of a controversy as the best deli, or where to eat the best tortilla de patata en Madrid.
Seems to me bagels have become rather mainstream, with places cropping up everywhere. But a great bagel is still hard to find. And what makes a great bagel is, of course, arguable. In fact, I even like a good bialy better than a bagel!
Most people, including myself, would say bagels in New York are the best. And often New York water is given as to the reason those bagels are top-rated. However, it’s more than just New York water that makes a bagel taste best. It’s an undying commitment to the boiling process in making bagels.
I love when I find out about great bagels outside of New York. And it’s always a possibility that I’ll travel just to taste something, so why not a bagel?
