US Bank FlexPerks: No Foreign Transaction Fees, 1,000 FlexPoints for Joining Visa Checkout, 3,000 FlexPoints for Spending $5,500, and other Offers (Targeted?)

Thanks to Dan for the heads up.  Apparently US Bank listened to me and got rid of the foreign transaction (FOREX) fees on their US Bank Flexperks credit card.  Previously, I wrote The US Bank FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa might be the Worst Travel Credit Card Ever stating that this was the only chip and signature card that had FOREX fees.  I’m glad they fixed that mistake.

if only they could update their terms and conditions page to match the new FOREX fee change.

Walmart.com AMEX Offer: 33% off Starbucks and Subway Gift Cards (20-25% off other Gift Cards)

(Hat tip to Mark at the Travel Blawg for reminding me to take advantage of this offer)

This offer has been around a while, I mentioned it on September 19 (link), but didn’t plan on taking advantage of the offer until Mark sent me a message.  I looked into the offer (spend $15+ and get $5 statement credit) and it seemed like a good deal.

Here are all the $15 gift cards and egift cards that Walmart sells online.  I am a big fan of Subway and Starbucks, so I bought a few of those today ($5 off $15 = 33% discount).

Poll: Do you Manufacture Spend when you Travel?

Poll: Do you Manufacture Spend when you Travel?

Based on the responses from my recent poll (voting still open), it seems like this is a pretty popular topic.  I think I may have misled you with the question; I was more interested in seeing if most people do manufacture spending while they travel, either for work or while on vacation.  Since it is an interesting topic, I will share my view on MS while traveling.

MS Travel

The topic comes up frequently at travel conferences, especially at FTU events and the Chicago Seminars.  Last year when the FTU was held in Tampa, Florida, I remember hearing many people visit the CVS close to the host hotel to load up on Vanilla Reload Cards ($5,000 at a time).  Of course this happens often, but it is talked about less frequently.   Continue reading

How to Add Authorized Users to American Express Credit Cards (Small Business Saturday) and New AMEX Offers

Good morning everyone, according to Greg (aka Frequent Miler), American Express Small Business Saturday is coming back this year (November 29).  He wrote a great post (link) on how to maximize earnings while shopping at small business.  The easiest way to rack up savings is to add authorized users to your AMEX credit cards.

The first thing you need to do is log into your American Express account and click on More Account Options under the credit card you want to add authorized users to.  Most credit cards will let you add authorized users for free, but some premium cards like the American Express Platinum Card and some business cards will charge you for authorized users.  You probably don’t want to add authorized users to those cards just for this promotion.
