My Crazy CVS / Vanilla Reload Conspiracy Theory

Let’s be honest, no one knows what is going on with CVS and Vanilla Reload Cards.  All I know is that my local CVS stores have let me buy them with credit cards on Sunday afternoon, Monday morning, and Tuesday morning.  Since I don’t know why my local CVS Stores (located in Southern California) accept credit cards while other stores across the country are cash-only, here is my conspiracy theory.  Feel free to share yours in the comments below.

It all started a few months ago when I used to see purchase description after some of my CVS purchases:

The charge shows up as Garfield Beach CVS, LLC.  After a quick Google search, I stumbled onto CVS Caremark’s 2013 10-K Financial Statement (link).  Go to page 99 of the PDF or page 61 of the document.  It shows a list of “significant subsidiaries” and I have highlighted the subsidiary that shows up for my purchases.

I had an elaborate April Fools joke planned where I was gunna say CVS had joined Plink and you could earn 400 Plink Points for purchases greater than $100, but I guess that joke will never happen :(

Side note: RIP Vanilla Reload Cards (or will they be zombies and return from the dead?… to be determined)

On a happier note, I wanted to thank those of you (roughly 30 of you) who used my Amazon affiliate link during March.  I earned a few bucks toward my free first class ticket, so I wanted to give back a little something.

I should have explained in more detail how to add a credit card (preferably a Chase Ink Bold/Plus MC/Visa) to your Shopkick account.  So this post is better late than never.  It is actually quite easy to do in just a few steps…

Log into your Shopkick account on your smartphone and click on Settings in the lower left corner.
