Air France / KLM 100% Bonus on Purchased Flying Blue Miles (Ends September 25)

Did you know that Air France is one of the largest airlines in the world? It is part of the Air France – KLM group and was a founding member of the SkyTeam airline alliance. What is Flying Blue? Flying Blue is the loyalty program for Air France and KLM, as well as a handful of other airlines. I was reminded of this today and reminded of something else as well! We’ve only got a few more days until the offer to buy Flying Blue miles with a 100% bonus ends. This offer expires on September 25, 2017.  That brings the standard price of 3.28 cents per mile down to 1.64 cents per mile.

Why buy Flying Blue miles? Sometimes you may need to top up an account for your award ticket. Even though you can transfer points into the Flying Blue program from Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, SPG Points and Citi Thank You Points, you still might need some more miles to book your award tickets. Then there are times during a miles sale like this one that buying enough for a one-way or roundtrip ticket might make sense. Sometimes you have a destination in mind and other times you let prices and sales dictate where you’ll go. In any case, it’s always important to run the numbers and see if they make sense.

My favorite use of Flying Blue miles are for their discounted promo awards. This list rotates on a monthly basis. The best deals, depending on class of service, are usually between cities in the U.S. and Europe, though good deals can be found to Hawaii and Mexico flying on Delta.

Rohan at Travel Codex had a great write-up about Air France: its routes and fleet. That got me thinking about the many good uses for Flying Blue miles :)

Will at Doctor of Credit has a good write-up about this offer, too. Though he suggests it only makes sense if you like traveling in premium cabins on a regular basis, which I certainly do.

How about you? Are you a buyer of Flying Blue miles? Do you take advantage of the monthly discounted promo award deals? If you’ve been sitting on this offer and not sure if you’ll be a buyer, now’s the time to decide. Have a great weekend, everyone!
