Good morning everyone, happy Friday. I was reviewing my recent Citi credit card statements and noticed a bug on the Citi website and on the Citi App. For some of my credit card accounts, it is not showing the payments in the Transactions section. I needed to navigate to the Payment Activity page to confirm that the payment actually posted to my account. I will show you what is happening and how to verify that the payment posted to your account successfully. If your current balance is $0.00, that most likely means that the payment posted successfully.
Here is what one of my Citi AT&T Access More Credit Card accounts looks like online.
In the Transactions section (looking at all transactions year to date), I only see the $95 annual fee from July 5. The green Payments / Credits text shows payments year to date as $0.00. If you scroll up and click on the Make a Payment button…
You will see no payment is necessary since your account has a $0.00 balance. Next, click the Payment Activity link at the top of the page.
Select the credit card you want from the drop down menu and then you will see your recent payments in the Payment History section. The $95 payment posted to my account on July 8.
By comparison, I looked at my Citi Premier Credit Card and see the same $0.00 balance, but…
In the Transactions section, I see the $95 annual fee from August 4 along with the $95 payment on August 5. The green Payments / Credits text shows payments year to date as -$95.00. This Citi credit card is showing all transactions and payments correctly.
If you are using the Citi App, this is how you can see your payments if they do not appear in your Transactions section. I went to the same Citi AT&T Access More Credit Card account and clicked the Transactions link to view all recent transactions. The only transaction I see is the $95 annual fee that posted on July 5.
I clicked the Payments icon at the bottom of the screen and then clicked the View Payment History link. I then clicked the Citi AT&T Access More Credit Card account from the list (yes, I do have 3 Citi AT&T Access More Credit Cards and I made sure to click the correct credit card).
On this screen, I can see the $95 payment posted on July 8. I clicked on the payment to see more details of the payment.
I’m really not sure why this is happening, but I’m pretty sure it is a bug with the Citi website and Citi App. If you have any questions, please leave a comment below. Have a great weekend everyone!
I see you blocked the due date in all spots except one, and the statement date in all. Is that information you feel is a security risk to publish? Just curious.
Hi Carl, good catch, I fixed that one photo. I don’t think the due date is a security risk, I just like to blank out PII (Personal Identifiable Information) when it’s not relevant. Have a great weekend :)
FYI. I just did a payment and it does show in transactions. So either the problem is fixed or it’s sporadic.
Hi Carl, thanks for the data point. I’m guessing it’s a sporadic issue only affecting a few accounts.
My Android phone’s Citi App does not show the future scheduled payments I have scheduled from my Citibank to my CitiCard. Does Citibank know of this flaw? How are we supposed to keep tab on our budget without keeping tab on ALL future payments? Or is this another one of big bank scheme$ to extract hundred$ of million$ of dollar$ in late fee$ until get caught stealing?!?!?!?
That’s a good question. I’m sure they are aware of the bug in the app, but I’m not sure how quickly Citi will fix this issue.
