$99 Amazon Prime starting March 20, $30 Office Depot Plink Cap, and a Small VRC Change

According to the Wall Street Journal (article), Amazon will raise the price of their Prime Membership from $79 to $99 starting March 20.  If your subscription renews after that date, you will be charged the new subscription price.  Luckily, Dan’s Deal has all the details here.  Dan shows you how you can “gift yourself” a year of Amazon Prime.  You can gift yourself another year of Amazon Prime here.

If you are new to Amazon Prime, you can try a 30 day free trial here.

I almost forgot to mention, you can take advantage of this trick to give Amazon Prime to family members for free here.

I don’t want to say that I warned you, but I warned you… Here is what the Office Depot Plink offer looked like on Day 1:

Office Depot will Replace Staples on Plink Starting March 12, 2014

It has been a roller coaster over the last 24 hours, but the dust has settled and we know a little more about what is going on.  From now through March 11, Staples purchases will still earn Plink Points.  Starting March 12, Staples will disappear and Office Depot will take its place.  We do not know what the Plink Points-earning structure will be.  I think we all assume it will be the same as before, but we are all guessing.  They could increase the Plink Point-earning payout or decrease, or keep it the same.  Only time will tell.

We just have to wait and see what Plink does.  If you have any questions, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day.

March 11, 2014: Staples will be Removed from Plink

(Hat tip to Gary)  See the update post here.

All good things must end, unfortunately.  Luckily, there is still time to make 10 qualifying purchases at Staples before the March 11 deadline.  This is a huge letdown, since most of us earned 99% of our Plink Points from Staples.  On the positive side, maybe we will see Office Max or Office Depot?  That’s a long shot, but it could happen.

Plink Staples Ending 3.11.2014

Since starting with Plink, I have earned a lifetime total of 15,945 Plink Points = $159.45 in Amazon Gift Cards.  Pretty good deal, how many Plink Points do you have in your account? (Hint: go to the My Account tab and scroll all the way to the bottom)

Amazon Affiliate and Credit Card Affiliate Update

Amazon Affiliate and Credit Card Affiliate Update

Good morning everyone, hopefully you get a chance to look at my massive trip report from Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna, and Rome that I posted a few minutes ago.  I will wait until you finish reading that and oohing-aahing at the pics.

Anyways, I just wanted to update all my blog readers really quickly.

In early December, I was approved as an Amazon affiliate (congrats to me!) and inserted the following link/image to the right side of my blog.  If you are reading this on a mobile device, the link/image will probably be toward the bottom of this page.

Amazon Affiliate

I have been a long time Amazon Prime member and can’t imagine paying for shipping ever again.  If you regularly shop on Amazon, please consider clicking on the link/image before heading to Amazon.  I receive a small percentage of the sale amount.  I much prefer to support Amazon rather than have ugly/distracting ads on my blog.  I love simplicity and hate ads, as simple as that.

Some helpful Amazon-related posts:

Also, regarding credit card affiliate links.  I admit that Travel with Grant is a teeny tiny blog and does not have access to most of the best current credit card sign up bonuses.  If you take a look at my credit card tab, I have a direct link to the FlyerTalk master thread with all of the current, best, up-to-date credit card links.  If you are looking for some obscure Barclays or Discover credit cards, I should have direct links to those.  Lastly, I have a few credit cards from Chase and American Express that I am able to refer people to.  Just post a comment on that page with the credit card offer you would like and I can send you an email with the referral link.  Please check your inbox/spam for that email.

As always, if you need more personalized recommendations for a new credit card application or app-o-rama, please fill out my credit card questionnaire and I will give you my personal one-on-one attention.
