Winners Announced for 2 $10 Amazon eGift Card Giveaway!

Do you want the good news first or the bad news first?

  • The Good News: I have 2 $10 Amazon egift card winners!
  • The Bad News: most of you did not win anything (better luck next time)

As always, I want to thank everyone for entering the giveaway contest, but like most contents, there can only be one winner two winners.

The winner (or shall I say identity thief) is Judy Jones for correctly guessing the last 2 digits of my social security number: XXX-XX-XX94.  Way to go Judy, it is true, the early bird gets the worm, but in this case, the worm is an $11 Amazon egift card (check your email now).  Judy got an extra dollar for guessing the exact number.

Not far behind, Kat guessed 92.  No one else was closer that Kat.  You won a $10 Amazon egift card (check your email now).

That concludes this month’s Amazon egift card giveaway.  In all seriousness, thank you to everyone who used my Amazon affiliate link during March.  Your online shopping addiction purchases are greatly appreciated and help keep this site going.  Have a great night everyone!

No Joke: 2 $10 Amazon eGift Card Giveaway!

No Joke: 2 $10 Amazon eGift Card Giveaway!

I had an elaborate April Fools joke planned where I was gunna say CVS had joined Plink and you could earn 400 Plink Points for purchases greater than $100, but I guess that joke will never happen :(

Side note: RIP Vanilla Reload Cards (or will they be zombies and return from the dead?… to be determined)

On a happier note, I wanted to thank those of you (roughly 30 of you) who used my Amazon affiliate link during March.  I earned a few bucks toward my free first class ticket, so I wanted to give back a little something.

Instead of a boring giveaway where everyone posts in the comments “Pick me, I love your blog!” or “It’s your friend from high school, you still owe me 10 bucks!”, I decided I would make it more fun.  I will send a $10 Amazon egift card to the 2 closest comments who can guess the last 2 digits of my social security number.  (Hint: guess something between 00 and 99).

You have until 8PM PDT on April Fools Day to comment.  I will give you an extra $1 if you guess it exactly!

Any questions?  No?  Good.  Start guessing!

According to the Wall Street Journal (article), Amazon will raise the price of their Prime Membership from $79 to $99 starting March 20.  If your subscription renews after that date, you will be charged the new subscription price.  Luckily, Dan’s Deal has all the details here.  Dan shows you how you can “gift yourself” a year of Amazon Prime.  You can gift yourself another year of Amazon Prime here.

If you are new to Amazon Prime, you can try a 30 day free trial here.

I almost forgot to mention, you can take advantage of this trick to give Amazon Prime to family members for free here.

I don’t want to say that I warned you, but I warned you… Here is what the Office Depot Plink offer looked like on Day 1:

Office Depot will Replace Staples on Plink Starting March 12, 2014

Office Depot will Replace Staples on Plink Starting March 12, 2014

It has been a roller coaster over the last 24 hours, but the dust has settled and we know a little more about what is going on.  From now through March 11, Staples purchases will still earn Plink Points.  Starting March 12, Staples will disappear and Office Depot will take its place.  We do not know what the Plink Points-earning structure will be.  I think we all assume it will be the same as before, but we are all guessing.  They could increase the Plink Point-earning payout or decrease, or keep it the same.  Only time will tell.

We just have to wait and see what Plink does.  If you have any questions, please leave a comment below.  Have a great day.

March 11, 2014: Staples will be Removed from Plink

(Hat tip to Gary)  See the update post here.

All good things must end, unfortunately.  Luckily, there is still time to make 10 qualifying purchases at Staples before the March 11 deadline.  This is a huge letdown, since most of us earned 99% of our Plink Points from Staples.  On the positive side, maybe we will see Office Max or Office Depot?  That’s a long shot, but it could happen.

Plink Staples Ending 3.11.2014

Since starting with Plink, I have earned a lifetime total of 15,945 Plink Points = $159.45 in Amazon Gift Cards.  Pretty good deal, how many Plink Points do you have in your account? (Hint: go to the My Account tab and scroll all the way to the bottom)
